A new paper covering all mosasaurs of the Moroccan Phosphates was published by Bardet et al and it is fantastic! They state that T. atrox, P. currii, M. beaugei and H. boubker are the apex predators of the phosphates! This publication is a great read! www.researchgate.net/publication/...

WAVP Field Trip to Chalk Canyon Formation deposits. We visited Agua Fria National Monument, where oreodont remains have been found. The Early Miocene Chalk Canyon Formation represents one of the earliest mammal-bearing rock units in Arizona, and it is the locus of ongoing research by AZMNH.

Looking forward to giving the keynote address at the Western Association of Vertebrate Paleontologists conference this weekend. Stop by to hear about North American Late Cretaceous turtles, especially an exciting new marine turtle from the Neylandville Fm. (Maastrichtian), Texas.

This is officially my horizontally longest image to date, depicting some of the earliest complex animals on the planet from 565 to 505 million years ago and how they changed over time.

Thank you to @egmitchell.bsky.social and Steve Pates for trusting me with this gargantuan task! #Art #SciArt

Massive thank you to the talented @nathandehaut.bsky.social for their work reconstructing Globidens alabamaensis and the Ozan Formation which represented an inner to outer shelf depositional environment. Inoceramus, Hamites, and Baculites are abundant throughout the Ozan Formation.

Globidens possessed tribodont teeth and massive jaws for a specialized durophagous diet. www.researchgate.net/publication/... Globidens is known to occur between subtropical paleolatitudes showing an equatorial geographic range that tracked bivalve populations along reefs of the Late Cretaceous.
