I kinda like the updated 2026 translation of this subplot. It’s way kinder to Seiko’s trans narrative and is less callous and transphobic.

So much about this dub is really strange (so much Gen Z slang) but it’s nice for them to make such a drastic writing change for the better.

Getting to talk with @dr-maeforrest.bsky.social , Kat or Bill is always a joy; getting to chat *about Lewis* was beyond delight.

Oh wow, I wonder how Seiko is going to translate to a 2026 audience…

Seiko was the first openly trans character I experienced in fiction. She is very of her time (early 00s) and probably not a good portrayal at all but I remember really being affected by her story.

Greta Gerwig’s 'Narnia' Employed Puppeteers, Creature Performers, and Real Animals Greta Gerwig's visualization of Narnia seems to be leaning heavily on in-camera practical effects, rather than on CGI alone.

You’re still on thin fucking ice, Greta.

The trouble with loving obscure anime/manga is that I do not have anyone to scream with.

THEY DUBBED LOVE COM, MY FAVORITE MANGA OF ALL TIME AND I DIDNT KNOW IT TILL I NOTICED IT ON HULU AND CLICKED TO REWATCH AND THEY SPOKE ENGLISH?!

Wuthering Heights is my least favorite Brontë but in my AP Lit class in high school I wrote a parody song about it using Hotel California.

“She may stab him with her steely knife, but she JUST CANT KILL THE HEATH.”

I’m still very proud of this.

Red River is a truly fascinating manga to choose to adapt into anime in 2026.

Like…how is Prince Kail going to translate in 2026. Or Tito. And how Tito died.

I’ve remained pretty steady reading the Anne of Green Gables stories, only had one moment where my eyes filled with tears (when one of Anne’s Windy Polar neighbors receives a photograph of his son who passed away).

But boy, was Anne losing her first child so heartbreaking. 💔
