We work 24/7 to fill potholes, respond to traffic incidents, repave streets, and keep you moving.
Levy-funded crew-built projects are one important way we can maintain and modernize Seattleβs streets and deliver targeted improvements, many of which were requested by you and your neighbors.
2025 saw another year of improvements for cyclists and bicycle infrastructure in Louisville. Envirome's Urban Design Studio examines cyclist safety in Louisville.

I think most of the second stories will be usable. Like office space for the. Us ones below or independent offices. The library will have a second floor/mezzanine.
That is going to be amazing for you!!
Raised Intersection proposed at 10th and Grant
@citybloomington.bsky.social is redesigning East 10th Street between the Trades District and IU, adding four new raised intersections and two speed tables. The changes come after the stretch experienced two serious crashes between 2018-2024.
For some people, electric cars feel like the symbol of the urban future.
For me, it's the electric bicycle.
For some people, robotaxis feel like the symbol of the urban future.
For me, it's the pneumatic garbage collection.
Could setup comprehensive all day public transport in every town and city and offer residents subsided season tickets for a lot less than this and far better social and economic outcomes!
Ugh. The megabill permanently killed commuter benefits for people who bike to work.

At an estimated cost of $57 Billion the deduction for auto loans will amount to ~three times the amount spent on bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure by the federal government in the last 35 years www.crfb.org/blogs/breaki...
Instead of Safe Routes to School, we get new trucks in the pick up line
Design vehicles to fit cities. Donβt design cities to fit vehicles.
"Is there an accepted standard in road design that isnβt based in science or thatβs actually harmful?
@wesmars.bsky.social Oh, thereβs so many...I mean, I was taught that wider roads are safer...But if you go back to those original studies, like the widest road...was only 22 feet wide curb-to-curb"
Mentioned in today's post about urban renewal from @uoflenvirome.bsky.social + Urban Design Studio. "The high number of surface lots also create a significant barrier to walkability. In his book Walkable City, Jeff Speck presents a general theory of walkability..." www.udstudio.org/stories/a-hi...
And now, a note on Bill Owens who, until this past week, was the executive producer of 60 Minutes.
Weβll be back next week with another edition of 60 Minutes.
I think about this at least once a week
Calvin's dad, welcome to The War on Cars.

Tonight in Louisville! Come see Jeff Speck @jeffspeck.bsky.social return at @lfpl.bsky.social to talk about a two way streets plan across downtown & NuLu. Support his ideas. Also ask his thoughts on why mini roundabouts are a bad idea for walkability (gaining support from council & public works...)!
3 new angled bike racks outside Collectivo

Letβs make some simple changes to let public school kids walk and Bike Bus to @jcpsky.bsky.social schools by safely crossing city roads Barret and Ellison, and connect the Castlewood transportation network. @streets4peeps.bsky.social @visionzeronet.bsky.social
Trump's chaos w/federal funds is crippling efforts to expand mobility options and reduce crashes.
πΉ Shared Use Mobility Center is crowdfunding, says the situation is "existential for us"
πΉ Road to Zero, a major crash reduction initiative, is "on hold indefinitely"
This is the tip of the iceberg.
The Road to Zero Coalition has hundreds of members, including many state Departments of Transportation from states like Florida, Arizona, Nebraska, and Tennessee
They do important work convening organizations trying to make roads safer, and I hope this stop is temporary www.nsc.org/road/resourc...
what if we fixed the Barret & Ellison intersection?

US DOT has renamed the competitive RAISE program back to BUILD & changed merit criteria for winning projects to:
βEliminate goal of increasing walking, biking for public health
βEliminate goal of engaging with unions
βEliminate goal of electrification

Really appreciate the thought that went into addressing issues like offset intersections. There's a corridor in my city that has a bunch of them (and is super dangerous) and now I have some guidance for improving them
A piece in which @jgerth.bsky.social proves car-brained, climate denialism is a bipartisan affliction. Advocating for drivers to pay *less* for the impact they have on climate and infrastructure by removing parking meters is as hare-brained as it gets.
