Large majority of homeless people in California are not illicit drug users, study finds Even though a majority of people on the streets do not use illegal drugs, they are both a factor leading to homelessness and an effect of it, the study found. Methamphetamine is the drug of choice.

HUD staffers reporting “pauses” on grant funding. These funds help #unhoused people , cities rebuild communities, and support increasing housing supply. All pieces needed for strong communities.

This is the exact OPPOSITE of what gov’t should be doing.

HUD is bracing as DOGE seeks to cut waste, fraud. Union leaders have a suggestion The Trump administration is reviewing contracts across the federal housing agency. Some employees worry about potentially "devastating" cuts, though union leaders also hope some good may come of it.

Homelessness at an all-time high. Millions struggling to pay rent. 80k displaced by LA fires.

And rather than help, DOGE/HUD leadership is attacking Fair Housing & creating an environment so chaotic “it’s impossible to plan in”

At it's core it's the belief (and data backed proven theory) that providing someone with stable accessible housing AND supportive services is the most effective way to resolve homelessness.

For anyone who doesn't know the history - Housing First was adopted as a national policy to address homelessness by the Bush administration and had bipartisan support since then - until now.
