Cutting business cards
Each end is it's own beginning.
1 face plot gone.

Plotting new business cards
Around October last year I started getting somewhere with RSTR.
I figured new business cards were due to celebrate. But what to put on them?
My face, of course! :)
here's layer 1 of 3 (yellow).

page. That last bit wasn't really necessary but something I've been dreaming about for a while. So I figured "why not?" while I was at it.
All I've got to do now is get back in the habit of sharing my progress... Which shouldn't be too hard as I've got loads of pictures and videos aching to be
that was one strike too many. I was going to re-think & re-implement my setup. I could do with some distraction anyway.
Fast forward about 6 months and I'm finally there. The thing is up and running again. Not just that, I also migrated all my media from Cloudflare to Bunny and setup a custom admin
Back in Business
The Mona plot was one in a long series of trials and errors.
I ran into several walls and almost gave up on the whole RSTR project a couple of times.
During that period, the little army of robots I've got doing my social media bidding decided to go on a strike. Again. I decided

With January coming to an end, so is my Genuary playtime. I've had a lot of fun exploring but also excited to get back with full focus to my other stuff. One of the first things on my list will be to get the new RSTR version out into the world. Stay tuned!!
Godfather of Genuary himself! A little thank you seemed fitting, hence the card.
As for the plot, I turned the image into a plottable SVG using my RSTR CMY tool. This turns any image into 3 layers of straight lines for the yellow, magenta and cyan components.
See, I only came up with the idea of plotting the Genuary logo on my ride into the studio on Thursday morning. And I wanted the card ready that evening. Why so? Well, we had another Creative Coding Amsterdam Meetup. A "Genuary Special" no less! On top of that we were even joined by @piterpasma, the
With that screenshot in hand I turned to my photo editor and applied a gradient map to turn the black/blue/pink into a white/yellow/orange/darkpurpleish palette. The reason being that a black background takes a loooong time to plot. And I didn't really have that much time.
In stead, for this one, I took a screenshot of the Genuary logo for 2026. (If you haven't checked it out, I can recommend going to genuary.art and clicking the logo at the top so you get see it animated)
Genuary#22: Pen plotter ready
Even though there's no "Genuary Police", I feel like cheating again as I didn't write any code for this one. I didn't even get a magic robot machine in the clouds to write me any code.

Genuary#13+21: Self portrait Bauhaus Poster
How's the self portrait prompt going?
Well, I decided to combine my previous effort with the Bauhaus Poster prompt.
I made sure to add the 'Clown' bit so you know it's me.
I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with this quite yet, but I've got some ideas... Let's see how those turn out...

using JavaCV. That's a Java wrapper around the good old OpenCV. Here I'm using two classical Machine Learning algorithms. The CascadeClassifier to get the bounding boxes and then the Facemark LBF to find more detailed face landmarks.
I guess that set the scene for me to try out some face detection methods when I thought about the prompt for January 13: Self portrait.
Turns out that's not a trivial thing to do within OPENRNDR. There's an orml-facemesh extension, but this hasn't been maintained for a couple of years so I ended up
Genuary#13: Self Portrait WIP
I approached this year's edition of Genuary as an opportunity to learn and explore new things. Well, new to me that's to say. Things I had been wanting to play with, but never got around to.
Genuary#12: Boxes Only
The boxes only prompt seems like a natural fit to explore the rigid body physics that JBox2D has to offer...
One could even argue that's very much thinking *inside* the box. ๐ฅ๐ฅ

The experience so far has been relatively smooth and quite fun. OPENRNDR really comes packed with a big arsenal of tools & extensions. Tons of stuff to discover!
And Kotlin? Well,.. if there's one thing I've noticed, it's that there's a lot of syntactic sugar.
And boy, do I love sugar!
past the introductory bits each time I've tried. That is until now.
As if that wasn't enough of new stuff, I also decided to use the physics library JBox2D. Another one from the 'want to play with' list that had been collecting dust.
