Sudan's deadly divide: The RSF and SAF's reign of terror | Brookings
While methods vary, both RSF and SAF forces demonstrate disdain for international humanitarian law and contempt for Sudan’s citizens.
Superb analysis on the background and regional motivations behind the horrors of Darfur and on "Sudan’s deadly divide: The RSF and SAF’s reign of terror" www.brookings.edu/articles/sud...
Jeff Feltman showing both sides are guilty, but he in no way plays down the mass butchery of the RSF.

Thrilled to join the Board of this cutting-edge human rights organization.
Probably never in its 6 decade history has its work been so important, in face of the most vicious and concerted assault on human rights, truth and dignity we've ever been up against.

Priorities after Assad’s Fall | Crisis Group
At last, Syria is free of the despised Assad regime. The long-suffering Syrian people deserve respite and a chance to rebuild the country on their own terms, with help not interference from outside.
Syrians deserve the chance to rebuild their polity and society on their own terms. Outside powers, who helped drive Syria’s immensely destructive war, now need to avoid destabilising interference and help Syrians remake their country for the better.

These images should haunt, for the rest of their lives, anyone who helped keep Assad in power.
Almost 20 hours after entering Sednayah prison, efforts continue to reach underground cells. 1000s are believed to be in the 2nd & 3rd floors sealed underground.

As Syria’s notorious prisons empty, families search for the missing
Tens of thousands of Syrians disappeared into Assad’s network of brutal prisons. After his downfall, families are finally hoping for news of their loved ones.
There was no place more feared in Assad’s Syria than Sednaya Military Prison. By Sunday, the guards had fled, its doors were flung open and this fortress of terrified silence was alive with the sounds of parents and children calling out for their missing. www.washingtonpost.com/world/2024/1...

Some people who supported Palestinian freedom for the past 14 months seem upset about Syrians getting freedom from a dictator.
And a lot of people who spent the past 14 months opposing Palestinian freedom are now cheering Syrians getting freedom.
So much moral inconsistency.
