Ironic Hyundai evangelist, lover of books, laugher at life. I follow the Portland Timbers and #MLS, generally, just not in long form. #rctid #MLS Was bullish on the end of 2026, then 2026 started. Holy fucking shit.

Happy Portland Timbers match day to all who celebrate!
I’m more interested in the way the Timbers play than the result today.
The ‘Caps are a fully formed, recently Cup-capable team, while Portland is in Year 4(?) of an eternal rebuild.
Let’s see some coherence out there today, people. #rctid

An actual psychopath.
Just…Jesus Christ, this man is *deeply* unwell.

he says the same thing a lot. doesn’t seem to be working it.
Also, do people really call him “Markwayne” when they talk to him, or do they shorten it to “MW” or “you” or something less ridiculous?
At the time he was first elected to Congress in 2012, Mullin hosted House Talk, a home improvement radio program syndicated across Oklahoma, on Tulsa station KFAQ. When elected to Congress, Mullin owned Mullin Properties, Mullin Farms, and Mullin Services, in addition to Mullin Plumbing. In 2012, he reported between $200,000 and $2 million in income from two family companies, and another $15,000 to $50,000 from shares he held in a bank. At the end of 2021, Mullin's reported assets increased to in a range of $31.6 million to $75.6 million, compared to a range of $7.3 million to $29.9 million at the end of 2020. The increase was from the sale of his plumbing-related companies to HomeTown Services, a multi-state residential heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical company. Mullin said that the sale happened in early 2021, while Mullin was serving in the House of Representatives.
This is Markwayne Mullins’ early life bio on Wikipedia. That is a lot of “excuse me, what?” for three short paragraphs.
Keep going. No, further. Further. It’s okay. Keep going.
most clarifying skeet in a good thread. the extent to which a decisive 1/3 of the country have lost their fucking minds is an underappreciated reality.
There was a surprising amount of booze and cocaine for a work event - and it was so early in the morning.
(To be clear, this references a dream.)

Steve Bannon wrote an unsold screenplay for a a hip-hop musical called “The Thing I Am.” (Source: It Came from Something Awful)
There are entire universes of “ummm” in that.
Failed creatives = real-world supervillains?
Think about it.
Good night. #Musicsky

Personally, I know fuck all. His profile didn’t get me(/probs us) far.
I’m just happy they signed for a position of need. Which, yes, I thought that was the theory with Ortiz.
There’s a bit of baggage, for sure, but doesn’t that also scream “Christmas”?

James Talarico: "Our economy is broken. Our political system is broken. Even our relationships with each other feel broken. And that's because the most powerful people in the world want it that way. The real fight is not right vs. left. It is top vs. bottom."
appreciated the article. nice work, as always!
CHRISTMAS?! #rctid
Ah, fuck me. That’s Ayala over stupid asshole’s left shoulder, isn’t it? #rctid
For a little “fun,” watch how the players react as stupid asshole talks about murdering more people.
Why are many miles off the rails, people… #MLS
touche.
Can’t believe how many people willingly serve as props for this senile, warmongering twit.
Yes, please. And I still want an audit on the Joao Ortiz signing… #rctid
Hard to feel confident about the Timbers handling Vancouver, even in Portland, but, hey, I’m trying. Recommendations for mood-altering drugs are welcome. #rctid
* Also developing a theory that it’s better to use the previous week’s featured games as a point of reference for the following week’s. Gets a little more context into what I’m watching. (2/3)
The following will be this week’s featured games:
STL v SEA
NYC v ORL
PHI v SJ
CLB v CHI
Just curious about one thing or another in those*.
Also, it shouldn’t be this hard to figure out why NE v HOU was postponed. As Timbers next oppo they were to be featured, but… #MLS #rctid (1/3)
I love when “From MLS” dredges up random content.

If they can’t hit your country directly as they retaliate, maybe calling them an “imminent threat” was a steaming pile of bullshit.
Incredible cowardice.
If you are 1) dropping a shit-ton of bombs on a country, 2) the executive officer in charge of that operation is bragging about all the bombs you’re dropping, and 3) the party on which you’re dropping bombs is retaliating to the best of their ability, you are at war. More…
One was a one-armed semi-itinerant man obsessed with owning land, literally anywhere (still managed to help support a stable household), recently found out the other helped build the original infrastructure for TVs (labor side of that) and later ran a hardware store.
I….think I just found a totally different band called “Geese.” They’re okay too! #Musicsky
Sometimes, I get the feeling that some people read Arendt’s work less as a way to understand how bad things happen, but as an instruction manual for bringing them about “only it’ll end better this time, we got this,” etc.
Or maybe they understand the pitch’s utility more than they believe in it.
That comes from a chapter that quotes Hannah Arendt heavily, but you also see that narrative in the closing chapters of Arlie Hochschild’s Strangers in Their Own Land offered by her subjects to explain their sense of alienation. Those subjects dance around race while staring straight in the eyes.
“…a group of devious people (immigrants, Jews, etc.) have *cheated* at the game and usurped a slot above your (race’s) own. Therefore, their removal will help the new group in which you have found solidarity and belonging, your ‘race,’ to get ahead.”
