This book of smart, touching, essays by @tmcallister.bsky.social would make a great gift. Just saying.

Ahhhh! Congratulations, Tom! So well deserved.
This is awesome! "Relax your sphincter!" π
The morally bankrupt Trump administration has partnered with another morally bankrupt authoritarian to declare an unprovoked war on Iran, already killing scores of civilians.
We need an immediate vote from Congress on a War Powers Resolution. Then articles of impeachment.
Stupid.
New York Times Editorial Board says Trump is going rogue with Iran.
No, we're still not distracted from the Epstein files.
The thing about going to war in Iran is that we still havenβt seen the documents detailing how the President of the United States raped and tortured little girls.
The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive
Medicare and Social Security are on the ropes.
So this seems important as the GOP uses the Clintons to distract from Trump's many-tentacled ties to Epstein and his horror show. Via @hcrichardson.bsky.social yesterday.
the party that wants to require ID to vote abruptly invalidating a thousand peopleβs IDs overnight seems like a pretty giant flashing red light
Local woman wakes up, starts feminist book clubs for all the menβs hockey teams and they must read and discuss at least one book a month (starting with A Vindication of the Rights of Women by Mary Wollstonecraft) before they can play games, makes oatmeal.
Rep. Massie:Β βI've not seen any arrests from the revelations in the Epstein filesβ¦Over two dozen people have resigned, CEOs, members of government worldwide. But I haven't seen any arrests or investigations here in the United States from this DOJ.β
The State of our Union is that we have a convicted felon and pedophile in the White House, protecting other rich & powerful pedophiles while strangling the Constitution and orchestrating the largest transfer of wealth to the ruling class in American history.
The End.
I saved you 3-6 hours tonight.
That essay is so good. "I think about the romanticization of work and how that is reflected in America. Rather, for whom work is romantic, and for whom work is a necessary and sometimes painful burden of survival." A Bruce-unconscious world, though? Say it isn't so!
How wonderful!
Yes. But don't forget Citizens United (2016); deportation due process (2020); Dobbs (2022); and presidential immunity (2024). Slippery slope's been luge-like over the last 10 years.
And don't forget Citizens United.
"His power slipping" is all I need to hear. Sometimes the crash comes quickly. Let us fervently hope so.
"The United States, on the other hand, has allowed the application of its laws to be bent to the will of an autocratic president, and the checks its legislature should impose on executive authority have been vitiated by the sycophancy and cowardice of so many legislators." (Gift article)
Sure is.
As @mashagessen.bsky.social says of America in a newspaper column this morning: "We have built our society on a foundation of not seeing."
Please call your congressperson and ask them if they know itβs actually their job to stop billions of taxpayer dollars from being funneled into make-believe boards of peace
β¦and to stop the president from unilaterally declaring war
β¦and to demand compliance with the Epstein files Transparency Act
The day this catches up with him can't come an hour too soon.
King Charles' response to the arrest of his brother, former prince Andrew.
This is how you do it. Now let's see the US to do its duty on the Epstein horror show.
Powerful.
"It's been quite a party." Robert Duvall, thank you. Rest in peace.
Thank you @samadams.bsky.social. You've hit the nail on the head here regarding AI in journalism (and elsewhere).
Itβs easy to think writing is mainly the transcription of ideas you already haveβthat is, until you try to write something worthwhile, and you find what you thought were saying transform into something far more interesting in the process. This skips that last step, and that is *not* an improvement.
You got that right.
The unnerving part is there are men who are not visible and not in the Epstein files but who remain in the Epstein class to protect their own financial or career or social interests even though they could live comfortably without selling our planet to those who intend us to be destroyed.
