I like this a lot. I feel too many English teachers still stick to what they know (particularly at ks4) I'd like to see more variation!

Interesting. I think vocabulary is the biggest barrier to my pupil's perceived belief that they don't understand Jekyll & Hyde.

Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you.

One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order.

No explanations, no reviews, just covers.

I have not quite sussed out how to use this app properly but OMAM is trending on twitter and I can't deal with the oblivious (non-educators) commenting. Just nope. It was removed from the GCSE curriculum for being American- but that doesn't suit their narrative!

I love a train trip, but it infuriates me that the MCR- LDN service is dismally worse than it used to be. It shouldn't take nearly 40 minutes longer than it used to!

This is so interesting. It's not literature, but I read a brief history of walking recently, and the need for meandering stood out to me (I'm a slow walker!). In literature, I must think of Lizzie Bennett's trip to Netherfield!

Bloody hell this is good. Harrowing. And she certainly has a strong story to tell about the β€œpens debate”! Still only halfway - what an absorbing read.

Over the last ten years , there have been numerous people I admired who were revealed to be a bit or a lot URGH - but I have never found myself without books to read or art to love because the space made by losing them is filled by new voices and creations who have often given greater delight
