internet hug (if you want one) from a stranger who also lost her dad this year. I’m wishing you tender joys in memories and love received, but this dad-losing business is really hard and unfair. ❤️

you’ve got this! you have rows where there were none before :) (me everytime i put a second sock away for an indefinite pause)… but seriously: well done you!
two fluffy bumblebees seemingly hold hands on the flowery section of a wild card plant‘s thistle head.
just a bunch of bees cozying up on the same plant in my garden. 🐝❤️ love my wild card plants, they have officially reached 2.8m height and are attracting so many insects it‘s truly heartwarming. amazing how they all just get along and share. #dipsacusfullonum #wildekarde #hummelliebe
yak floof in my left palm with a short handrolled 2-ply yarn sample.
forgot to add a photo of the yak floof pre spinning. also, it‘s giving me ideas about spinning my cat‘s eagerly discarded hair in this heat 🙈🧶 #handspinningyak #whatnow
three supported spindles (from left to right: phang-style, Russian, Tibetan-style) with some dark brown singles spun onto them are placed atop an old-school, quite romantic, flowery bit of wrapping paper. a rolled up and felted ball of cat hair is placed in the upper right section awaiting its turn to become a plying ball.
while the spindles are now almost naked, the plying ball is proudly taking up more space in the picture. Only the Russian spindle is completely yarn-free, showing off its beautiful design.
a dark brown niddy noddy atop a white sheep fleece holds the now plied strands of yarn, the background is dominated by the foliage of an hibiscus plant.
my first attempt at spinning #yak has gone well so far. i plied three high-twist singles together for a rounded and insanely soft yarn of 74m/30g. How does one go about finishing the skein, though? warm soapy soak? what does yak want? #handspinning #phang (by Regenbogenwolle) #supportedspindles
A small cuff of a mitten-to-be-knitting WIP with a first nordic star motif forming is placed in a person’s lap. The light petrol of the trousers and light grey of the knitted sweater match the slightly darker yarn colors. Both balls of yarn are next to the project and can also be see in the photo.
love it when my travel knitting matches my outfit 🧶❤️ #knitting #fingerlessmittens #vermdalsskalethalfmitts I’m using regional-to-me Wolle von der Scholle #Leineschaf yarn and Finkhof leftovers on 3mm needles. Note to self: size down! this is size M.
thank you so much! they’re super fun and just a bit fiddly 🙈
a cozy scene inside a corner of a small café: colorful selbu pattern strips that are knitted together log cabin style are placed on a stone table. a coffee mug with a so-so tulip latte art attempt keeps the project flat. anne bardsgard’s book selbu mittens as well as a knitted project bag with a selbu style design can be seen in the background, an electronic table lamp offers a bit of warm light.
too early for work, so time to knit and sample our coffee. barista perks :) 🧶 #showmeyourknits #selbusamples #annebardsgard knitting selbu log cabin samples on 1.5mm needles to figure out which patterns i like best (the answer is all of them of course).
lol, they certainly trained us well 🙃😬 much love to your co-knitters and cheers to many more projects for them!!
baby Louie demonstrates her love of yarn by bunny kicking and chewing the sh…fibers out of it. (sacrificed yarn didn’t make it; she was supervised)
oh no!! 🤣 while i appreciate the shared love for all things yarn in this household (and warmed up knitting is rather soothing tyvm), no one tell Louie about the magic of frogging please. for general peace keeping she is presented with an occasional woolly sacrifice, though.
it’s a fun activity for two! (she wrote this)
thank you! she is … inevitable. ❤️
two similar colorwork knitting projects lie atop one another, both feature the same geometric linework design by Rachel Illsley, one is knit in cool teal and grey tones the other features warm black and grey yarns. the yarn balls from the WIP are stuffed into the project.
a fluffy white tabby maine coon mix cat is looking straight at the camera and is now sprawled across both projects. she’s daring you to touch her belly (bunny kick trap) or the projects (instant death).
First time following the #ShowMeYourKnits prompt after a month of silence 🙈🧶 So here’s my current #WorkinProgress, the #nightbook sweater by unwind knitwear (Rachel Illsley), in progress knit with #LopiEinband on 3mm n. and finished underneath in #jamieson&smith2ply. highly recommend the pattern :)
lol @ your alternative titles XD magic spindle circles are so satisfying, though! your dark collection and your spinning are insanely beautiful 😍
aaaaah! they‘re adorable!! 😍 thank you for putting the photos up!
haha, great! (kind of curious to see a fish hat now :D)
a black cat snuggling a white blanket with a dark flower print gazes into the camera. this cat wants scritches.
thank you, he‘s a very pretty fool indeed :)
this is the stage when you need to briefly ponder wearing the chicken as a hat … not just me, right? right? •_•
this is simply stunning and so carefully knit ❤️ i’m sure she‘ll look radiant in it!
a black and white photograph of my black cat, TheOdor, basking belly-and-paw-up in a small patch of light.
it is #catsnoirfriday (as I learnt all of 2 minutes ago), so here‘s my shadow cat attempting photosynthesis. do boop the beans, he wants you to! #bellyisnotatrap #catsofbluesky #catsky #bestboi
On a beige canvas bag featuring a print of a black cat‘s face 5 wooden objects are laid out: to the left of the cat‘s face 3 full bulgarian spindles with either purple or salmon colored singles are placed, and to the right the salmon colored fibers are bound to a ring distaff and partly spun onto a more vintage bulgarian spindle. It looks like the cat is marvelling at the objects.
A bulgarian spindle with purple yarn on it lies next to a ring distaff laden with purple fibers on on a beige lace sweater (Thea Colman‘s White Russian to be exact). The fibers have been tied onto the distaff with a narrow handwoven band.
Current hyperfocus: To improve my drafting technique & because they look fancy, I bought a ring distaff from Drechslerei Mewes in Leipzig last weekend. Bit of a learning curve but i think i have overcome the awkwardness in holding the distaff 🤓🧶. #handspinning #claspedspindle #distaff #Bergschaf
A pair of short blue socks with light green tips and a minimalist floral design on the cuff are spread out on a bed of blossoming violets.
… and Summer Lee’s CCC august pattern joins the sock chat just in time for flowering season. I think I like Bluesky for keeping track of project updates this way; and for doomscrolling. #copeknitting #sockknitting 🧶
a lose skein of light purple handspun with lots of specks of different colors is lying in front of a light brown tabby maine-coon-mix cat which disappears into the bokeh of the image. some houseplants make up the background of the image.
a little project update: We are rather pleased with the finished skein (63g/150m; so somewhere in DK range). 🧶 #2plyhandspun #handspinning #coping
actually lol’d at “sad brown paper bags” because it’s just so true, thank you for that laugh!
lol - i figured if i liked/knitted only three of the patterns i won’t have lost money. and they’re fun! currently knitting up august :D curious to see yours eventually ❤️
your scarf looks lovely! such a cheerful color story 😍
thank you ☺️
POV shot with a middle-aged woman’s hands holding up a pair of short, light greenish socks with a white and yellow margerite colorwork motif on the cuff. There are light pink blossoms on a bush visible in the background section of the shot.
Spring is springing and it’s high time for short socks, i guess. This is Summer Lee’s Colorwork Cuff Club pattern for March. I wouldn’t normally knit with 3 colors at the same time, but here we are. Happy with these! #sockknitting #CCCMarch #knitsky 🧶 #Regiasockyarn
a small brown tabby-coloured maine-coon-mix cat rests her head on a middle-aged woman’s hand. the hand holds a large rolag of a light purple, speckled blend of wool fibers. no spinning is happening in this photo.
caturday = spin break ❤️🧶

thank you, that’s so sweet of you to say ❤️
