Maybe this is an odd question, but can participants be outside of Canada?

There's currently an entire cottage industry of social psychologists showing that AI produces the same gender and racial biases as humans, which is pretty obvious given that its trained on human data.
From what I can tell, their writers read medical journals for plot lines. These applications developed from basic science research that predates actual medical use by about 10 years. So they don't predict the future, but the read the science that makes the future!
Would this be two sections per quarter of SSI, or SSI plus an additional course?
Job alert: UChicago seeks a Senior Instructional Professor (Assistant) to manage and teach a sequence in undergraduate social science research methods. This is a three-year, renewable position suitable for any social science PhD.

Wait, did someone use the term in a derogatory sense? In 2026?
For no particular reason, I'm just remembering how my undergrad blocked access to bit torrent servers on our university internet.
You could get around it, of course-- torrent things in an off-campus apartment. But at least an attempt was made.
Yup. And it's something *I'm* nervous about doing, so I'm not currently comfortable asking TAs to do it.
My Research Methods class is just heavily weighting the in class exams, and I might swap an article critique they do out for an in class essay version.
I have colleagues who currently swear by having students do an oral defense, and I'm going to try this in a Spring class with ~18 students.
They don't have the word processor capabilities I would want them to have access to so that they can put "Method" centered and bolded, etc. I don't love it for just an essay exam even, but I'll take it over reading AI slop.
For an in-person exam, I'm going to use a LockDown browser that doesn't record video of them, it just automatically submits the exam if they try to move to a different tab. I'm not sure if that works for writing paper components, because it relies on students typing into Canvas quizzes
I've tried having them use Google Docs and inspecting the version history to look for big blocks of text getting pasted in, but it's been clear this entire year that they're wise to that, and are pasting things in line-by-line, and even making extraneous edits (e.g. retyping something word for word)
What about employers though? Like say youβve got schools where everyone is cheating, and youβve got schools where everyone pretends itβs the 70s. Which credentials look better?
I'm sorry, developers, I think your FAQ overlooks my very important questions, which are "Am I a joke to you?!" and "Deep down in your soul, you know you're a piece of shit, right?"
Just LOVE how clearly this app knows it's a cheating device.
Holy shit, this is a nightmare:
So you support progressive revenue increases in Illinois as part of this year's budget, right?
...right...?
Do you have thoughts about their new Authenticity check? I've enabled it recently, but I don't really understand it.
If you live in Illinois, you can tell your and State Senator to co-sponsor/vote for HB 35, which would outlaw this horseshit. You can find out who they are here: www.elections.il.gov/ElectionOper...
Agree with the sentiment, but what tangible actions are you committing to here? I heard you praise the actions of community members, and those actions are indeed beautiful and necessary. But I didn't hear what the Governor's office is going to do to protect my neighbors.
Map showing tens of thousands of protests across the US between Trump's inauguration last year and January 31, 2026.
The volume & geographic distribution of protest nationwide during year 1 of Trump's second term was extraordinary.
Health insurance companies often reimburse much less for mental health care than for physical health care. That changes with HB1085, making it easier for over 2.5 million Illinoisans to get access to therapists covered by insurance.

It's giving "Diamond-Hands, HODL that memestock!" energy.
I like Robin Kelly, but my priority is not having Krishnamoorthi as our senator. I think we need to circle up around Juliana Stratton.
Look, all I'm saying is that if you just spent the last six years being frustrated with Durbin and you think there's a chance he's about to be replaced with a guy who thanks ICE for their service and takes AIPAC and crypto money, you should treat it like a very serious emergency

After four months, the journal has not found a single reviewer for my PhD student's manuscript. The academic peer review system is broken.
I think we all should:
1. Review three papers for every one that we submit.
2. Promptly declined to review a paper when the request arrives.
