Describing the medication my child needs to function as a “threat” is very concerning. It’s taken us years to get the regimen he needs nailed down. And this isn’t a prescription I can get a big stash of because it’s already highly controlled. I am worried.

My routine is: Pt name, DOB, consented procedure/side (marked, visible after draping), diagnosis, anticipated specimens, SCDs on and machine on, cautery settings, local on the field, sterility confirmed, anesthesia happy with airway and abx given, fire risk score, everyone agree?

As a surgeon, I don’t often see anesthesiologists taking the lead for that. Good for you!
