Keir Starmer is right to stand up to Donald Trump over Iran.
While the brutal Iranian regime should rightly be condemned and international pressure applied, this war is not the right course of action.

A Guardian opinion piece from Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, is headlined: "Labour must stop channelling Reform and unite with progressives. That's the lesson from Gorton and Denton."
I'm proud to lead a progressive region here in the West of England, working together to deliver change that people can see and feel.
Sadiq's right: a brave and bold vision of hope can build on the government's trade deals for jobs, breakfast clubs for kids, and protections for renters.

Labour must stop channelling Reform and unite with progressives. Thatโs the lesson from Gorton and Denton | Sadiq Khan
Sadiq is spot on. It is time for us to be braver in our Labour convictions and address voters fearsโ not play on them.
Labour must cease taking progressive voters for granted, says Sadiq Khan
The threat to Labour is existential.
The Labour government needs a real change in approach - and fast.

I have written to Criterion Capital expressing my deep concern at reports that they are mass evicting Londoners from their homes, and urging them to reconsider.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan says London Centric's investigation shows the need for greater regulation of the algorithms on sites such as TikTok to stop "bad faith actors spreading hate for clicks".
"Accounts are talking London down because the algorithms reward them for doing so," he says.

While critics talk London down, the facts tell another story: record-low murder rates and the fewest homicides of those under 25 this century.
Our strategy is working. But one death is too many, and weโll keep investing in the police and young Londoners.

Londonโs homicide rate drops to lowest in more than a decade
Londonโs homicide rate per capita is the lowest since records began, with the fewest murders of those aged under 25 this century, thanks to relentless work by the Met Police
and innovative prevention work by @london-vru.bsky.social
New figures show that the homicide rate in London is now the lowest in it's recorded history- with an 11% drop in the last year.
This is thanks to the hard work of so many across London & the leadership shown by Sadiq Khan in leading with a tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime.
But we're not complacent. One death will always be one too many.ย
ย
That's why I'll continue to do all I can to invest in the Met and in my Violence Reduction Unit to deliver positive opportunities for young Londoners - so we can build on this significant progress.
NEW: Many people have been trying to talk London down, but the evidence tells a very different story.

Last year saw:

The fewest homicides of those aged under 25 this century
Great news. This opens up exciting opportunities for young people, giving Londoners, Brits & their European counterparts access to a wealth of possibilities.
