What a cutie!! I hope the cats will fall as much in love with her as you.

As someone whoβs worked in libraries, I can say with certainty that itβs appreciated! π
Youβre writing a script about a killer shark, reach Act 3 and need to figure out how to kill this unkillable monster. What if it chomps on an oxygen tank and blows itself up? That could work but must be set up earlier. So this weekβs #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread is on PLANTS AND PAYOFFS.

Out of context, it sounds like youβre asking for help to eat the huge bowl of popcorn. But in context, I hope you enjoy the film! π
The showrunner is reviewing your script. She points out a joke that she absolutely loves, but you didnβt come up with it; another writer pitched it. What do you? Hereβs a quick #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread on when to credit others, when to take credit, and when to keep your mouth shut.

This week over at Writing and Whatnot, I wrote about general meetings and how not to screw them up. One of the worst meetings Shawna and I ever had ended up getting us a job. So every general matters...

Exactly! To be nerdy about it, itβs like telling a stranger about your latest DnD gameβitβs just not the same as reminiscing with those who played the game with you.
the angle mostly died out on "AI will make each person their ideal story/movie/game/song" but for anyone who never got the problem a major part of the value of media is we want a common thing to talk about. we spend more time talking about it than consuming it. if you're the only person who saw it π€·
Laurels for achieving the top 50 of the Great Pitch Competition 2025.
Thank you so much to @networkisa.bsky.social and @scriptpipeline.bsky.social for selecting TWO of my scripts to the top 50 of the Great Pitch Competition! Canβt wait to see where my swashbuckling pilot Pimpernelle and true story feature Oberlin go next.

This weekβs #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread is on WRITERS BLOCK. Specifically, the seven things I do to avoid and/or overcome writerβs block. My focus is on writing, but this stuff works for just about any creative outlet.

Ah, I like this one much better! My only question is, I (an American) donβt know what a roasting caravan is.
Two thingsβto clarify, is he a wannabe son or wannabe murderer? If heβs a wannabe murderer, get rid of wannabe.
Wits, strength, and will seem a bit vague and clichedβis there something you can say about how they survive that really pops?
And this is why Iβm a library apologist! #LibraryJoy
Very quick #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread this morning because I need to go coach at an AYSO tournament in a few minutes. But I want to talk a little bit about the difference between BEING HUNGRY and BEING DESPERATE, and HOW YOU SELL YOURSELF.

It was rewatching my favorite version of The Scarlet Pimpernel and wishing there were more for the female characters to doβ¦
There definitely is! I managed props for a few student plays in college, and there are real similarities.
Iβm Rikki, and I write scripts about people who break the rules to do whatβs rightβusually in the historical genre.
I write because I read Screenwriting for Dummies when I was 15 and want to prove that Iβm not a dummy.
Outside of writing, I design escape rooms for my local library!
My 2025 in review:
- Took a helpful class with @jestew.bsky.social
- My feature earned semi-finalist at AFF
- Made an audio drama teaser with @hamrobotham.bsky.social
- Designed 3 escape rooms
- Went on adventures
- Spent time with loved ones
- Got angry
- Made mistakes
- Am grateful

Iβm currently reading the script, and youβre so right! It has a lot of unexpected heart.
For another take, check out this short film I wrote and directed to raise awareness about this very issue!: vimeo.com/549104642?
If true, yes.
BUT just because someone βlooks healthyβ doesnβt mean they can walk across an entire airport. Thatβs the very definition of invisible illness!

Super helpful advice!
Yep! Classics, indies youβve never heard of, documentary gems, staff who just might be movie nerdsβ¦donβt sleep on the library!

I was a kid when Spirit, Stallion of the Cimarron came out, so I saw it in theaters. In the middle of the movie a horse walked onscreen and a toddler shouted, βHello, horsie!β The entire audience laughed.

When I was a production assistant on The Office, the only writing of mine that anyone read was the catering menu I typed up each day for the crew. But I realized the menu was my chance to impress the writers. So hereβs a quick #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread on HIDDEN OPPORTUNITIES.

Walking out of @realgdt.bsky.social βs Frankenstein, my best friend said that Mary Shelley would have been proud. I couldnβt agree moreβit captures the emotions of the book perfectly as well as pays homage to classic versions of before. See it on the big screen if you can!!
Letβs talk PUNCH-UPS.
Punching up a script is the process by which a script thatβs working well gets funnier, tighter, and any remaining wrinkles get smoothed out.
Iβve been in hundreds of punch-ups and learned a few lessons along the wayβ¦

I relate to this deeply, lol
Congrats, Stacey!! Iβm so happy for you!
