Yes! This is the refined version of my daydreaming. Limiting the DLSD/Woodlawn traffic in these blocks would make things much calmer. Imagine the neighborhood joy! Imagine the outdoor dining! And still accessible for our car-centric culture in your plan.
True. That’s so much better than the current chaos! But to be able to leave Bixler w my child & walk over to 57th St. Books (2 crosswalks, 1 horrendous) without ever having to worry about being hit by a car… It would make our lives so much better! So in this dream scenario, I vote both streets. :)

Reading @ahmadgreene.com & Laura Helton this week in our Sacred Geographies course! We’ll focus on archives and collecting as forms of making/claiming/narrating/critiquing/embodying “the sacred.” Next week we visit Chi History Museum to engage archives & collections (& exhibits!) in person.
Just read a syllabus for a course on the sociology of reproduction in the US and there’s nothing about religion. Not one single reading in a semester length class that looks at “the social construction of reproductive values.” I find this astounding and yet also…not.

Today is the last day of Religion and Abortion in American Culture and I’m feeling emotional about it! I’m going to miss the amazing students who made the class so good—and who welcomed me back into the classroom after two years away. Teaching is the best.
