So glad you came! I hope you thought it was fun and/or useful and/or something else good! Lovely to see you, as always. π
Okay, how about #stevenlucyfordirectorofdiagrams?

Yes! This is the refined version of my daydreaming. Limiting the DLSD/Woodlawn traffic in these blocks would make things much calmer. Imagine the neighborhood joy! Imagine the outdoor dining! And still accessible for our car-centric culture in your plan.
True. Thatβs so much better than the current chaos! But to be able to leave Bixler w my child & walk over to 57th St. Books (2 crosswalks, 1 horrendous) without ever having to worry about being hit by a carβ¦ It would make our lives so much better! So in this dream scenario, I vote both streets. :)
And 57th!
It went so well! The pairing was great (really brought both to life) and the students loved your article. The idea of archival viscerality really resonated w them.
Someoneβs #realacademicbio.
THE WEATHER. π
Is this exhibit the best part of working at The Marty Center? Possibly. Maybe. Probably. Yes!
Reading @ahmadgreene.com & Laura Helton this week in our Sacred Geographies course! Weβll focus on archives and collecting as forms of making/claiming/narrating/critiquing/embodying βthe sacred.β Next week we visit Chi History Museum to engage archives & collections (& exhibits!) in person.
Just read a syllabus for a course on the sociology of reproduction in the US and thereβs nothing about religion. Not one single reading in a semester length class that looks at βthe social construction of reproductive values.β I find this astounding and yet alsoβ¦not.
Please consider joining our conversation about the state of Catholic Studies. Super hosts and panelists! Meeting this afternoon. Sponsored by @csraac.bsky.social
Goodbye, beautiful objects! We miss you! (Especially the Oral Roberts wallet. And the Last Supper lunchbox. And the King James Version belt buckle. Andβ¦)
ICYMI: Last month @rewirenewsgroup.com published a comprehensive guide to protecting your reproductive health during the next Trump administration, including how to stock up on birth control and abortion pills, and how to protect your digital privacy rewirenewsgroup.com/2024/12/16/h...

5yo: describes in detail a fairly mundane dream about legos. Then, an afterthought: βAnd there were gecko horses.β π
This is so cool.
Canβt wait to read!
83% of parenting is scouring the floor for microscopic legos without which oneβs child will perish.
Oh good! Thanks. :)

So how does this starter pack thing work? Canβt I just import my mutuals from the Bad Place? π«
I literally lolβd. From the voice of The Peopleβs Rabbi! ;)
Yay, Kelly!!
It's important to remember that the "crisis in the humanities" is deliberate and not because of a lack of funds or lack of student interest, but because of how those with power choose to wield their power.
Weβll be reading Meehan Cristβs βIs It Okay to Have a Child?β and hosting Kate Hoeting from @catholic4choice.bsky.social. A powerful way to say goodbye to wonderful students!!
Today is the last day of Religion and Abortion in American Culture and Iβm feeling emotional about it! Iβm going to miss the amazing students who made the class so goodβand who welcomed me back into the classroom after two years away. Teaching is the best.
