I grew up UCC - it's pretty progressive and open.
I was always told that when faith wavers to lean on community.
But with only a few exceptions I found the community to be small-minded, petty and full of expectations I wasn't willing to meet.
I was not their people.
They made that very clear.

TL/DR - create art for the sake of art.
I wrote a book.
That's the accomplishment.
Getting it published is so secondary to the actual accomplishment.

I've been told it's funny, touching and relevant.
It's on my personal re-read list every year.
Sixty years ago it would have been a real banger... But I don't have the energy for the hustle.

It discusses late life loneliness, sexual health and what it's like when you become out of sync with the world. Insomnia, invisibility and what happens when you're kept separate - what happens when your pushed beyond the pale.

The book is about a 70 year old woman who catches a supernatural ability and fights a frost demon in her retirement home with the help of a Slavic house spirit.

I am middle aged and work a full time job.
I've spent the last year disentangling myself from a lot of social media for my mental health.
I don't have the hustle in me.
Some days I can't even get a cup of tea in me while it's still hot.

People who know me pretty well know I wrote a book a few years ago.
Sometimes my parents ask me if I'll ever have it published.
Explaining to them that the hustle needed to launch a writing career right now is a full time job.

I am! It's great and GORGEOUS!

If it's any consolation we are all dumber than we were as babies.
Less space on the hard drive but also your simplest neural pathways have been created.
So if you haven't trained your brain to prioritize language, after a certain age it's almost impossible to pick up another language fluently.

So, folks who work in service fields and aren't paid a dignity wage can just suck it when they can't get to work easily on weekends and holidays.

We went out for ONE BEER and got home to two bags of granola, one of bag of chips and one box of oatmeal exploded across two rooms.

The cats opened the cupboard.

The dogs did the rest.

We're outnumbered by a factor of 3 and the animal uprising has begun.

The good news - it's still cute AF.

Totally normal to wake up at 4:00 a.m., flip the laundry, start the dishwasher and clean the kitchen.

I did fall asleep on the couch for two more hours after that.
