Hopefully there's a "family" (combined) troop in your area. My troop was part of the pilot program for it last year, and I'm incredibly proud of our scouts. It's also the best option for trans and enby scouts because they don't have to feel othered or have to justify their existence.
What age? Cub scouts have been fully combined for a while, but at the troop leve l(11-18) it's new this year

They are. It wasn't until just this year that "combined" troops were allowed. Before that, "girl" troops and "boy" troops were entirely seperate entities. Policy still allows for that, and MANY troops decided not to become combined and maintain gender-specificity.

There's hundreds of scout units on US Military bases around the world. DoD provides significant logistic and material support to the National Jamboree (20,000+ attendees, held ever 4 yrs), plus the advantage of providing military rank advancement to eagle scouts when they enlist.
I'm disgusted, plain and simple. It's an embarassment that Scouting America went along with this.
As a veteran and scouting, I'm disgussed by the SecDef's announcement and Scouting America's kowtowing. Shame on them all. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are baked into the Scout Law, and any effort to remove them from scouting weakens the entire program. apnews.com/article/scou...
Oh if it were that simple. But we'd leave behind a lot of folks who would be hurt, and we'd bring a lot of shitty people with us. Take WA for example - it's a blue state, but once you leave Puget Sound (Seattle, et al.), almost the entire rest of the state (area-wise) is solidly red.
