More than 180 authors quit writers' week. Many returned for a DIY replacement Constellations emerged from the ashes of Adelaide Writers' Week, which was cancelled after authors withdrew over censorship. Organisers share how it came together and lessons for the future.

We stood together against anti-Palestinian racism and they cancelled our festival. So we organised our own.

Very tired now, but very proud of Constellations!

Great in depth coverage from Hannah Story here

Just randomly thinking about the time I was invited to a colleague's engagement party but I'd never been to Point Piper and didn't know what that *meant* and I turned up with a tupperware of homemade cupcakes as a gift

Obvious ai manipulation on the left. Original photo by David Batcheller on the right. Look at the wings, feather shape, head, neck and bill shape, lack of tail etc. This is way more than a filter and absolutely destroys the joy and wonder of the original.

So loads of people are sharing an obvious ai "glow up" of an actual photo. I never share ai stuff even to dunk, but in this case I'm sharing a comparison to show the problem. We have to stand against this slop at every level or it becomes normalised. They want us to stop caring. See alt text.

Once again the @walkleys.bsky.social have conflated judging arts journalism and arts criticism. As a 30+ year practitioner of both, these involve very different skill sets. I predict criticism - already endangered in Australia - will continue to be sidelined. It's a regressive decision.

10 Things I Hate About You GIF ALT: 10 Things I Hate About You GIF

Listened to Gorillaz this morning and it's a pretty good weekend morning album! Would actually be genuinely into a 10 Things remake, the 90s ska bands, the Julia Stiles, the spaghetti straps...

β€˜The sky’s the limit’: Newcastle Art Gallery unveils its β€˜divisive’ $48m expansion with a blockbuster opening show Now the largest public gallery in NSW outside of Sydney, NAG’s new exhibition marries big names with local artists – and celebrates a changing city

There is a lot to love here, but also finding myself thinking how msm arts coverage was once tied to high sales results and now rolls to the rhythms of the arts building boom
