I got an email yesterday afternoon that my NSF SPRF Postdoctoral Fellowship was terminated. My grant focused on testing interventions to address online misinformation and I was 8 months into a two year appointment.
Let this sink in: the Trump Administration has characterized fighting misinformation/disinformation as "not a priority" for our taxpayer-funded research agency.

The erosion of trust in science & scientists — sometimes due to complex social/historical factors but often deliberately perpetrated by charlatans — has tragic, deadly consequences, and, if unchecked, is an existential threat to society.
We have the largest holdings of tissues in the world from our ornithology, herpetology, mammalogy, and ichthyology divisions that comprise our genetic collection! We may have invertebrates in there as well, but I am not certain!
