Working to improve access to healthcare in rural Pennsylvania
I’m so honored to receive the Rural Health Impact Award - but I’m just translating the vision of the PA Health Hub Secretaries, inspired by a large number of regional rural health summit organizers and work group leaders - they are the future of rural healthcare in Pennsylvania!!

Food stamps are back, but millions will soon lose benefits permanently
Today, and every day, we honor America’s veterans. This means more than words. It means action— to stand firmly against attempts to dismantle or defund the care they’ve earned and the services they deserve. When we fight for science, we stand up for our vets and for the VA. #VeteransDay
Poster graphic reading: Honoring our veterans means making sure they have the care and services they deserve. So why did the Trump admin cut funds to veterans affairs?
300,000 VA staff were cut in just 2025 alone. All 139 VA medical centers report severe shortages of doctors, nurses, and mental health professionals. -8.9 billion dollar loss from the VA discretionary budget under Trump, despite record need among veterans.
What this means: longer wait times, fewer appointements,a nd delayed care for those who served. Shuttered clinics and veteran focused hospitals, and liminted access to specialized services Veterans earned. It hurts our research: in fiscal year 2024, the VA had over 7270 active research projects acorss 102 research sites, with a budget of approximately 984 million for these efforts.
Standing with veterans goes beyond just one day in November. It means fighting for year-round support and full funding at the VA for critical research to improve future care.
Yet, the VA under Trump is crumbling. Our vets deserve more than a gutted system, long waits, and shuttered clinics.

ACOG reaffirms that acetaminophen is safe for managing pain and fever during pregnancy. No reputable studies support suggestions like those in HHS’s recent announcement linking acetaminophen use in pregnancy to autism; in fact, high-quality studies show no such risk. https://bit.ly/47Wxc59

Having incapacitating rage at the gap between the cures and hope our amazing US healthcare is able to do for some and the pittance it will (in the context of other broken social systems) actually provide for others
So unfair, and so much unnecessary suffering.
He continues, “there is a playbook in reverse, where prodemocracy actors and brave people on the front lines pierce the veil of invincibility, they get wins.”
Autocrats demand obedience Here's how they demand it and how a pro-democracy strategy can defy it
Authoritarian Strategy 1 An autocrat uses government power to dominate. 2 Creates a climate of fear and yields anticipatory obedience. 3 Without civic support, institutions fail to check the abuses of power. 4 An unchecked autocrat further consolidates power.
Pro-democracy Strategy 1 Pro-democracy actors challenge abuses of power. 2 A broad, diverse coalition strengthens. 3 Institutions endure as checks on abuses. 4 An autocrat’s power grab is disrupted.

Most hospitals have financial assistance programs. If you’re hit with high unaffordable medical bills- first negotiate with the hospital or health system. Bills can be reduced and payment plans arranged - to avoid defaulting +\- receiving a bad credit rating
