No book is going to turn kids into someone else. But books will regularly show kids other people like them and show those kids they're not alone. And they'll show kids other types of people who also exist. There is a large proportion of the population who are terrified of this.

I’ve had a lot of fun lately with doing world building by going through actual experimental trains to see what problems were trying to be resolved, where the prototypes hit limitations, and then trying to play with how more fantastical elements might have succeeded

One part of moving I didn’t consider was the difficulty of finding a place to get out of the house and write that hits the same as my old one

I'm gonna go with D&D being incredible for this! It's collaborative storytelling, so the DM works with the players, and when it works the storytelling is BEAUTIFUL! Not to mention the dice can take a story into a way no one could have expected and make it so much fun.
