But as the authors point out:
“SSI and SSDI treat disability as an all-or-nothing condition. But we know that disability is a spectrum. It is worth considering
whether a move to a fractional disability system would likely improve our safety net.”
Great paper here from @socio-steve.bsky.social and @jacklandry.bsky.social! The SSI Restoration Act is a great first step towards supporting Americans with disabilities and understanding its potential impact is critically important.
My report with @jacklandry.bsky.social estimating the impacts of the SSI Restoration Act of 2024 is out today! If you enjoyed the earlier blog preview you really ought to check it out! And it turns out this is timely: Rep. Grijalva is introducing the SSI Restoration Act of 2026 this week.

Do you plan to cosponsor any of the bills part of the Economic Dignity for All Agenda by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (Baby Bonus Act, End Child Poverty Act, and BOOST Act)?
As promised, today @rooseveltinstitute.org releases a blog post previewing our topline findings from @jacklandry.bsky.social and my upcoming paper analyzing the impacts and costs of the SSI Restoration act of 2024!

One of the coolest projects I got to work on at @us.policyengine.org Read how we developed a tool that @govdanmckee.bsky.social used to help craft the CTC proposal included in his FY2027 budget in the thread below:
Removing the $2,500 earning requirement to begin receiving the Child Tax Credit would provide a maximum benefit of $375 for households in CTC phase-in range.

Happy to say I am now working full-time at @policyengine.org!
I will be continuing to enhance our state income tax model and cover legislative developments as a Research Analyst.
Gotta say it’s pretty remarkable that Bari Weiss is unfamiliar with the Streisand effect. This is about to be the most viewed 60 minutes episode in a long time.
(also lol the irony of The Free Press trying to kill a story because it makes the regime look bad)
Tlaib's plan includes The Baby Bonus Act [that] allows families to offset the cost of pregnancy, supplement a few weeks of unpaid leave, or purchase everything necessary to care for their newborn.

In a new article for @jacobinmag.bsky.social, @dtrim99.bsky.social uses PolicyEngine to calculate the impact of @reprashida.govpeeps.us's "Economic Dignity for All Agenda" on poverty, inequality, and the budget. jacobin.com/2025/11/tlai...
this is why people very far into the upper middle class should support building out a proper welfare state like @reprashida.govpeeps.us proposed the other day. you'd pay just a little for a tremendous amount of material security www.peoplespolicyproject.org/2025/11/20/r...
My analysis of Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s Economic Dignity for All Agenda reposted at @jacobinmag.bsky.social:
jacobin.com/2025/11/tlai...
yeah, but Zohran is working on it! and Rashida Tlaib has some good related ideas www.peoplespolicyproject.org/2025/11/20/r...
Great to see Rep Tlaib's team use PolicyEngine to design her new policy reform.
This is quite interesting as it ends the CTC and EITC and creates a big child allowance (5600/y), a 2k baby bonus and a 3k/y UBI for adults 19-67. The Policy Engine (CC: @maxghenis.bsky.social )folks did an analysis of the net impacts...

In a new article for People's Policy Project, @dtrim99.bsky.social used PolicyEngine to estimate the impact of @reprashida.govpeeps.us's Economic Dignity for All Agenda, finding the cash assistance package would (in 2026):
* Reduce poverty by 42%
* Lower the Gini index by 8.1%
* Cost $685 billion
To learn more about the EDAA, read my analysis using @us.policyengine.org at the People’s Policy Project below:
www.peoplespolicyproject.org/2025/11/20/r...
The combined impact of the EDAA would lower poverty and child poverty by 42% and 67%, respectively. Each household decile would gain, except the highest which would pay a higher average tax amount than what they receive in benefits from the 3 bills.
The End Child Poverty Act consolidates the federal CTC and EITC into a universal child allowance, providing $5,630 for every child under 19 in 2026.
The BOOST Act provides $3,000 for everyone 19 to 67, and establishes a 2.5% tax on AGI above $30,000 and $60,000 for joint filers.
I thank Rep. Rashida Tlaib for introducing this bill as part of the Economic Dignity for All Agenda.
The EDAA also includes updated versions of the End Child Poverty Act and the BOOST Act, which I got to help draft.
This crucial piece of legislation would help bring economic security to new parents, whose earnings drop significantly during the months before and after childbirth.
Parents should be able to enjoy this special time in their lives without fear of financial hardship.
Two years ago I wrote about the need for a universal baby bonus, administered by the SSA, and able to be claimed two months before the child’s expected due date.
The Baby Bonus Act does just that.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I have a bill in Congress.
Its name: the Baby Bonus Act
Got a big announcement tomorrow.
Really excited for it, stay tuned.
Kinda crazy the turn around. Between flipping on congestion pricing, passing a decent budget, and standing up to Trump in general, not a ton to really complain about since the start of the year.
