We need hundreds of these folks, not millions. I think there is a set of engineers, lawyers, docs, etc. who have savings, in a past decade might have tried to go bigger in their profession, but currently could live for a few years on a government salary if they thought there was room to do good.

The current landscape (media, being the opposition) is encouraging lots of these folks to act like campaigns when they should be sharpening their tools for when we’re back in power.
We honestly need a pipeline of folks like this who are competent, practical but not too corporate-brained, can do media as experts rather than talking heads, follow (reasonable) instructions rather than getting in internal politics, and can run a 100k or 5m person org with discipline.
