My day job focusses on supporting women, girls and their families avoid deep inequalities such as poverty, ill health and domestic abuse. I see the profound importance of community support to prevent people falling into crisis, and sport has a major role to play.

I believe deeply in the power of sport to empower people to lead healthy, happy and flourishing lives. Much more could be done to widen access for people from many backgrounds, but especially women and girls. After all, it’s the least I would want for my own daughters.

They work tirelessly to widen access for women and girls to fair and safe sport for the joy, fulfilment and lifelong benefits it offers.

With women’s centre Anawim playing a fundamental role in building trusting relationships with women in crisis, & working closely with probation, Uni of Birmingham & various health services, we’re seeing improved health outcomes and reduced reoffending. It’s a wonderful and innovative partnership. 4/

These courts aim to help people through deep rooted problems that lead to crime. For women’s problem solving courts, they look at the interaction between domestic abuse and addiction, and many associated issues of trauma, poverty & barriers eg insufficient disability or mental health support. 2/
