if the purpose of art was just to come up with some intended experience that nobody could break free from and then release it so ppl would enjoy it exactly as you wanted then i feel like there wouldn't even be a point to sharing art.

and i think the fact that art is all about how ppl interpret it means that a lot of the fun is finding out everyone thinks this thing is crazy that u ignored every time or whatever lol

if one's idea is "the goal is to make sure my assumptions are right and that my intention are getting across", then it acts as though the possibility of showing the game to your tester and they have a good time with something you didn't even realize someone might like is... bad...? if u think abt it

like, i can't ever make someone experience a game the way i intended really. but i can hear about how they experienced it and decide if i like that it was how they did, and if not, weigh whether i'm okay with the trade-off of some ppl not having a good time in exchange for it existing as it does...

here is my thought on that opinion...

i don't think testing is about creating the proper pre-realized version of the game i wanted to exist. b/c my intent isn't coming from some perfected version of the game i'm realizing. imo for me it's more about avoiding what i DON'T want
