Dan Simmons is dead. After 9/11, he wasn't the same writer anymore, but I'll never forget the first time I read "Hyperion".

At the time, I was working as a cleaner to pay my Comics School tuition, and I found this book in a basement we were clearing out.

I was blown away. What a masterpiece ❤️

So sad to share that legendary colorist Tatjana Wood has passed away at the age of 99. Her pioneering painterly touch graced scores of DC & Vertigo series. She was truly one of a kind and a special friend. May her memory be a blessing.

Tatjana Wood R.I.P. What an fabulous colourist she was. To take but her work on Swamp Thing: in what may just be the greatest monthly comic ever, her contribution was every bit the equal as that of her illustrious colleagues. And Swamp Thing was no easy book to colour. My cap is doffed with respect.

Tatjana Wood has apparently passed away at age 99. Her father was Jewish so during WW2 her parents sent her to the Netherlands, then NY. She studied as a dressmaker, met/married Wallace Wood and began assisting him, then pivoted to becoming one of the best colorists in comics.

It took a bit longer than expected, but I'm drawing the LAST page (28/28) of my new comic! 😱

I attended two markets, won two grants (one MINI and one BIG, both of which will help me work on my #comics during 2026), created some new #illustrations and, most importantly, my son was born 🎨👶🏻
