Oh I fully agree. I very much enjoy 80s and 90s nostalgia myself.
I was at the last gig Stone Roses gave during their brief reunion tour, in Amsterdam, when they fell out on stage. Most of the crowd was English or so it seemed. The nostalgia for 'Cool Britannia' apparently is huge and gets people to travel abroad for such gigs in large numbers.
Yes and it's even more of a business than it already was, with big budget production machines obfuscating the fact that these assets that are marketable around the globe aren't particularly creative of skilled as musicians. There is still good stuff coming out, but it's much more niche.
Nostalgia mostly. And some of that is justified as the craftsmanship in music has taken a nosedive.
I wasn’t much of a fan back in the day, but I always thought Columbia was a cracking track.
