itβs such a good read and there is so much for students to learn from - itβs really thoughtful, self effacing and quietly inspiring - what makes it very enhancing is the continual focus on how to make the change you want to see in the world, happen -itβs not all about him but it is about strategy
I canβt tell you how much lβm enjoying @london.gov.uk βs Breathe: how to win a Greener world. In the midst of a leadership crisis in NZ, at a time when it feels that cynicism & focus group politics dominates over genuine commitment to change, itβs so refreshing & helpful-canβt recommend it enough.

Their behaviour as an opposition at the time deeply shocked me - it was a relentless barrage of questions that in my view amounted to persecution - it was deeply concerning in my view

One thing that has been overlooked in megaministry commentary and with MfE specifically is the withdrawal of funding and policy dev on waste streams, waste minimisation. Itβs really important work and NZ stats on landfill, e-waste, lack of recycling infrastructure are frankly, embarrassing.
It makes no sense to rush into a giant centralised government department that merges environment into housing/transport etc. it creates huge transaction costs, taking NZ back years in effective climate and environment action, losing focus, accountability & skills www.theguardian.com/world/2026/f...

1)They said it takes 15 yrs to rebuild a city+15 billion state funding- they were right
2) no one was held accountable for all the deaths in 1 sub-standard building

I totally get that we canβt expect local communities to pay the full price of these climate related costs through rates but central government canβt push costs off their balance sheet on to local government and then also pretend those councils can cap rates - itβs so troubling and irresponsible

I agree and Thatβs why I think we should ALL be ashamed about this - I donβt honestly care who people vote for as long as we start supporting sensible thinking about long term planning and funding beyond emergency management in these islands we call home facing more & more severe storms
