Wow. That's a journey. Scary, I imagine.
I suppose if it's something not often seen then it's going to take time to encounter that one doctor who thinks: "Aha, I know what this is."
They are endlessly re-watchable. A lot of the earlier eps with Hastings, Japp & Miss Lemon are perfect telly.
Thanks!
Yes, took them a few weeks to pin down a diagnosis - GPs, then consultants, then admitted to hospital as I got more & more ill. Endless tests & scans. It was like being in an episode of House. Then as soon as they thought they'd worked it out they transferred me to the specialists!
I have most of the *news* stuff muted.
I'll get round to it eventually...
It *was* pretty close actually. Family were told, by phone, to prepare themselves because I wouldn't make it. And when I finally awoke in ICU I remember a doc telling me: "We're doing all we can for you. But..." Which was quite scary.
Haha, yes, *exactly* the right time to be ill - just as Covid surged. They were great though, shielding me. Lungs had already failed, so Covid would've finished me off.
And no visitors allowed because of it. Family got phone updates instead: "Yes, he's still dying." Worse for them, I reckon.
I was transferred because my illness was so rare - a one-in-ten-million reaction to an antibiotic - that no one at the local hospital had ever treated a case before. At the QE they'd seen seven cases. Just seven.
It's nice to be special...

Eric Morecambe in his pyjamas, pulling back the curtain slightly to look outside. The caption reads: ambulance siren passing by quickly. Eric then says: He's not going to sell much ice cream going at that speed, is he?"
Six years ago this evening (2020) I was transferred in an ambulance from my local hospital to a specialist unit at the QE Hospital in Birmingham, arriving at ~11pm.
(No ice cream sold on the way.)
Couple of days later I was transferred to their ICU - where I would stay for *quite some time*...
A view over Morecambe Bay, with a line of mist in the mile or so before you reach the shore
Always weird when you can see someone else's mist miles away when it's perfectly clear where you are.
New book on time called On TIME by Jim Al-Khalili.
I will definitely be getting this one...
Wow!
Looking forward to this one...
Woke up & checked my alarm clock - 3:33am.
Woke up again - 4:44am.
And again - 5:55am.
Feels like it might mean something important.

The time to really worry, I suppose, is when the alarm clock reads 6:66am...

That's a *terrible* synopsis for Lessons in Chemistry.
It's a cracking book! Zips along, funny and a great story.
I like the art of Peter Elson a lot...
We notice the substitute teacher knows our names without the roster. Knows which desk is whose. She calls on Danny before he raises his hand and predicts the fire drill to the second. After lunch, she tells Emma, "Don't worry, it heals clean." Emma hasn't scraped her knee yet. We count ourselves at dismissal. Twenty-three this morning. Twenty-two now. None of us can agree who's missing. --- *Enjoyed today's story? What a week it's been...
It's great. I was wearing mine yesterday!
It is.
The local phone box here got turned into one of these.
They're a great idea.

Just listening to TIME by ELO

Ooh, I didn't know about this one.
Looks good!
Absolutely!
Started programming on this and eventually did a fair bit of professional programming.
Just done my first session of gardening for 2026.
Nothing too strenuous - just a bit of weeding, sweeping up & general tidying. Still *absolutely shattered* though.
That first mow is going to be hard, I reckon...
Had some thoughts as I put out a yogurt pot and a foil wrapper for recycling this morning.
Me: recycling *everything*, doing my best for the environment...
The world: polluting *everything*, blowing up entire countries, "drill, baby, drill"...
Makes you wonder why you bother sometimes...
