I sometimes mull paint out of found and ground mineral rich rocks, but I do purchase pigments pre ground. There are quite a few sources if you do a search. Try Rublev/Natural Pigments to start.

Hello, I used what called the “Iron Triad”, specifically Blue Ridge Yellow Ochre, Venetian Red, and Prussian Blue. Yellow Ochre and Venetian Red are natural earth pigments, Prussian Blue has been manufactured since the early 18th c. and is considered non-toxic.
Spent some time in Ashland, Washburn and Bayfield, Wisconsin yesterday. Freezing mist covering the trees, beautiful gloom.
