"We reiterate our solidarity with them, calling for justice and their immediate release. Amaglobeli’s reports of humiliating treatment while in detention must be investigated. We stand firmly with all women who defend truth and freedom."

Independent and critical media in #Georgia have one of the last remaining means of survival and it is crowdfunding and small donations. Now even this has become a problem. This clearly illustrates the absurdity of the repressive laws and their real purpose.

πŸ’ At this point, reading and explaining these amendments doesn’t make any sense. Under them, if I want to attend a conference on press freedom policy and my ticket is gifted, I would need prior permission from the state.

Opinion | Georgia’s regime has given critics a choice: prison or exile A new draconian legislative package that vaguely defines a β€˜foreign grant’ is placing anyone tangentially related to politics at risk of imprisonment.

β€œThe real choice presented to civil society leaders and employees is not between seeking approval and defying it. Given the structure of the scheme, approval is not a genuine option. The true choice is between prison and exile”.

2026 AND THE WAR ON DEMOCRACY: LESSONS FROM GEORGIA By Irma Dimitradze2026 did not arrive quietly. In Georgia, it arrived with a growing number of political prisoners, a frozen European future, and a country sliding toward authoritarian rule.

Wrote this op-ed for @eesc.bsky.social the night of Jan 11–12. Then came #WEF26, where one of my messages was articulated better.. yet here it goes:

β€œNow the question is no longer whether the world will change, but whether it will be shaped by those who defend democracy or by those who destroy it”

Lawyers say pardons take immediate effect once sent to penitentiaries, but prisons are not required to notify families.
Since the pardons were announced, nobody has been released from Rustavi Women’s Penitentiary or Gldani Prison.

In several hours, regime in #Iran plans to execute a young man, #ErfanSoltani, in public. I can’t stop thinking about it. It keeps me awake at night.

Thousands of people have been killed in the streets of Iran simply for demanding freedom.

World needs to find a way to stop this.
