Biallelic NF1 loss or ectopic KIAA1549:BRAF expression increases human neuroglial cell proliferation through IRX2 and NPTX1 in a MEK-dependent manner.
New research from the Gutmann lab reveals critical insights into MAPK-mediated MEK signaling's regulation of neuroglial proliferation via Ξ²-catenin. Using induced pluripotent stem cells, the team identified target genes IRX2 and NPTX1 crucial for growth.

Nico Dosenbach, MD, PhD, among other researchers, has identified the somato-cognitive action network (SCAN) as the brain network responsible for Parkinson's disease. The study also found targeting SCAN with non-invasive TMS greatly improves symptoms.

A new study from Osvaldo Laurido-Soto, MD, found that between 2018-2022, there was a decrease in hospital healthcare utilization, but an increase in mortality for individuals on Medicare who suffered from strokes after the peak of COVID-19.
