When I first started out as a journalist I thought it paid to have a background in US history when covering America. Then I thought it would probably be better to be a constitutional lawyer with expertise in jurisprudence. Now I think it would be useful to be a psychiatrist.

I got kinda' stuck on a vision of a rather large green shape trying to hide in a crowd. I guess if there were other... large green shapes... I'm sure he'd be perfect for the role. ๐

Not sure what's going on but SA Paging is reporting rain rates exceeding an ARI of ~20 years in several centres, with callouts for multiple water ingress into houses, and yet my 2 weather services, BOM & Weatherzone showing no rain.
Maybe so much rain the gauges don't know what to do?

Anyone know what this is? Found in the bush north of the Murray River, South Australia.
There was quite a group of them but only 2 were flowering.
Hints of vanilla fragrance.

Yes, we only had 11 mm here at home. Most rain we've had since November. I managed to shift 3000 litres across to my IBCs yesterday so with spare water and an empty tank for next weekend*, I might even be able to salvage some garden.
(*Apparently, we may get 40-80mm over both Saturday and Sunday.)

I have always said that if world leaders had simply spoken to each other at the outset and agreed to tell Trump to take a flying leap long ago, he'd be gone.
Instead, we drive headlong from one grassfire to the next getting more dirt on our knees everytime we do.

Bar declared crime scene as ACT police seize 'clearly satirical' posters under new hate laws
Police have seized five posters on display in the window of a Canberra bar, declaring a "crime scene" while they investigate the artworks under new Commonwealth hate laws.
Another example of the ambiguous quagmire we now call 'hate speech'.
These signs are *clearly* NOT anti-Jewish, which is what anti-semitism is. They're a protest against states and dictators, not a slur on a people.
We're being sucked into BS by bad faith actors.

NSW & Vic' National Parks do not allow you to reserve a specific camping site.
From SA, wanting to travel with family frequently to kayak, it makes it untenable. Whose going to drive 5-8 hours to NOT be able to secure a preferred launching site?
SA does it. Why not you? #NSW #Vic #NationalParks

Alcoa hit with record fine for clearing world's only jarrah forests
US mining giant Alcoa is forced to pay $55 million after unlawfully clearing parts of a Western Australian native forest to mine bauxite.
A $55m fine? Exactly how much bauxite will they get out of that area? I'll wager it'll be far, far more than $55m.
It'll be recorded as a cost of doing business.
Murray Watts has ALLOWED "limited clearing" to continue while "while the assessment is underway"
ffs!

ACCC needs to investigate mobile phone companies claiming 'The price is X now and Z after 6 months'.
It allows them to advertise as 'lowest price' and push genuinely lower priced services off the top of searches.
I just want a cheap text/talk ffs. I don't want caveats 16 ways to Sunday.
