As a longtime XIV player, I do really enjoy how flexible GW2 is with character building, like most classes are viable in a variety of roles, and even within the same role, can often build differently. I do kinda wish tanking were a thing, but that’s just me being a tank enjoyer

Finally finished the story for base-game G*ild W*rs 2. I enjoyed it overall, but I don’t wanna hear ANY more shit about ARR being too slow or tedious. The pace turns GLACIAL as soon as you hit Orr. Fear Not This Night did still bring a tear to my eye, though.

Remembering the St*r W*rs RP forum I joined that was very strict about lore compliance and canon, and had constant arguments between members about continuity, but then also had a homebrew, mod-approved tiefling (like the D&D kind, minus the actual connection to Hell) species.

There's a particular kinda guy in every RP community I visit that I think I just gotta make peace with. I gotta come to terms that there's gonna be a guy that doesn't really care about the setting and just wants to make sparkledog/elf/half-angel, and I think I just gotta accept that I have autism

I think it’s funny that a solid three quarters of OCs I make are braggarts in some way. I’m personally very reserved or soft spoken most of the time and have trouble accepting praise, but as soon as I make a little guy I’m like “yeah they think they’re the gods gift to mankind”

Like as a Skyrim enjoyer, I love Norn culture, the Charr are cool, the humans are pretty, and the Asura are cute in a hideous goblin sort of way, but on the other hand, I could have a girl with leaves and flowers for hair, so it’s no contest really

GW2 is so tough cuz I wanna make all the classes, and I like all the races, so I wanna make all of them too- but Sylvari are so me-core that every time I make a new character I’m like “oh you know what would work for this? Sylvari.”

Was really excited to find that GW2 has a character profile plugin like WoW- only to discovered it’s maintained by a pro-gen-AI dude the community regards as dubious. So. That’s a bummer

Looking at myself, nonbinary, autistic, mostly estranged from family and disconnected from community: hm what could be so compelling about a character who has to come to terms with the fact that they don’t belong anywhere

Basic aspect of nearly every character I make and that can hold my attention is “was born/raised as this, but wants to be/is inspired by that. Is, in the end, neither.” And I’m too sleepy today to unpack that.

Finally made a breakthrough on a GW2 OC… Sylvari who Dreamed of Hoelbrak, went straight out to the mountains as soon as she could. The Norn call her Little Juniper. Has wood burns mimicking Norn tattoos. Little Viking tree.

Heartbreaking: I love Mesmer’s vibes, but hate its mechanics. Exploding copies just doesn’t do anything for me and ALL FOUR of its class abilities are “explode copies”

Naturally I made a Mushi proxy (and naturally, Sylvari Mesmer) but while I love Mesmer conceptually, I don’t super enjoy its mechanics in practice. Been also playing a Ranger with my partner, and that’s been super fun. Might try Guardian or Thief idk

Redownloaded GW2… it’s nice, kinda relaxing tbh, at least the early game where I’m at. MSQ every 10 levels, just vibes in between. I just gotta figure out a blorbo to play
