Just saw a police dog and two handlers ("Police Dog Services") at Commercial/Broadway! π
Don't think I've ever seen a police dog on transit before. #SmellsLikeFIFA

@jmcelroy.bsky.social do you have any insight on what happened in North Burnaby yesterday with all the cop cars?
I mean, I think I know why, lol
I keep saying, this place could have been a real alternative if they introduced some usability features but they don't seem interested in expanding and it's a real shame
With this kind of connection, that could have been last year! π
I don't think it's a range extender issue though because it works just fine sometimes. It's a more systematic issue
I understand they don't do it on purpose - they aren't flipping a "Bad Wifi" switch and saying hey let's mess with everyone today - but this is unacceptable. They need to get some new infrastructure or something like what is the deal
The wifi at SFU is so goddamn bad. Paying thousands a year and a lot of the time it's just out. I don't meet "spotty connection in some areas" I mean "the entire class can't get wifi periodically"
This is a massive university with 10,000 people or more here at any given time, we deserve wifi
That's a good point - but they'll never admit it because they know it's an unpopular position
Extremely niche but every time he said the apology line I think I LAUGH AT TONY DANZA
youtu.be/jzzsxQ7ip6o?...
Well and they actually have the infrastructure and funding for it. Vancouver is too small to have nice things. Toronto invests for millions of people.
Smells Like FIFA Spirit
Having 3x the population is hard for me to comprehend
I simply don't trust this news until it comes from somewhere beyond Israel. They destroyed his compound but other sources claim he already left.
Truly the banality of evil. Starting a war and sending the bombs because you can, not even for a pretend reason, just for fun and a display of force. Hurling a grenade.
It's goons showing up to break your legs with a baseball bat and saying next time it'll be worse
it seems like the actual purpose for this war of aggression is a possible rally round the flag thing, as well as a simple show of force. essentially saying to the world "wtf are you gonna do about it?". I'm not sure which of these is the primary, or if there even is one
I'm dumb can you explain it please. Is it just to detract from the files
We don't need and shouldn't have police directly doing things on transit like checking tickets. We have transit employees who can do it. They can call cops if needed. Surely the police have better things to do.
In about 3 minutes, the Mayor of Vancouver said βI spoke with Councillor Orr & apologized for my commentsβ 16 times. That was his answer to every question about why he claimed Sean Orr had handed out illegal drugs to people on the street during Christmas.
They seem to get suspended and come back a lot
I think if nothing else they can be dragged down in procedure and bureaucracy. It really depends on the community though
Sure I get what you mean - I'm a COPE member, I know him, he's cool - I just mean in his council term so far, he's pretty much "behaved"/hasn't done or said anything extremely headline making.
I do agree with this actually. ABC in particular has lost multiple party members over disagreements and fractions.
It is interesting that Van is unique in having parties at a municipal level. I don't think it's necessarily bad though.
Not to mention he's popular, professional, and polite. He's not disruptive or unreasonable in council meetings. He hasn't done anything controversial or got in trouble. They can't stand that he's on their level and a colleague despite being more aggressive at VPD stuff not very long ago etc
The thing that extra grosses me out about Sim & Zhouβs smear of Sean Orr is the elitism/socioeconomic attack baked into it. Like I guarantee you that βdrug user/drug dealerβ would not have been the smear of choice had Orrβs prior occupation been βlawyerβ
This is an absolutely terrible takeaway that makes no sense. The exact same thing could have happened with independent councillors.
