Fantastic news! Kudos to those on the ground who fought it! ❤️💪
Um, if you’re in DFW this weekend and not going to the @nttbfest.bsky.social then you’re doing it wrong. I see @thenextgenlib.bsky.social is doing panels! ❤️ northtexasteenbookfestival.com
Thank you, @maxuf.bsky.social and @fastcompany.com for this informative piece on Bookmarked.
As I say in the piece, “Bookmarked is a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.”
Y’all. Banning books is bad. Quit it.
Congrats, Carolyn, this is great!
I did it! Thanks, @everylibrary.bsky.social!
Same! 😍
Two smiling women
What qa great day at the Round Rock Kids & Teens Comic-Con! I got to see the amazing author and advocate @samanthamclark.com, got @davidbowles.us to sign banned book My Two Border Towns and bought his spooky books, and also got to meet @jessicaleeanderson.bsky.social and buy Naomi Nash books!
True story, we had a great time doing it, too! ☺️ It’s great to highlight and educate about other amazing plaintiffs when talking about these court cases, too.
brb, just going to train for the next Olympics so I can have dinner with Stanley Tucci in two years…
Oh, gee, Idaho lege, did your book ban bill go too far? If only a contingency of library advocates would have told you that before it was signed into law. 🤦♀️
Fix it with a repeal.

Thank Y’ALL for organizing and working hard up on the hill. 👏
The American Library Association strongly denounces new federal book banning legislation proposed in Congress. Call your Reps. Tell them to oppose H.R. 7661. Capitol switchboard: 202-224-3121 American Library Association, Show Up For Our Libraries
"Parents, not politicians, should guide their children’s reading. In our school, campus, and public libraries, materials are selected by trained literacy professionals who understand child development and community needs. Their work is grounded in one clear purpose: helping young people become lifelong readers. H.R. 7661 isn’t fundamentally about protecting kids. It’s about giving politicians broad authority to restrict whose stories are allowed on the shelves. That should concern anyone who believes in the freedom to read and the right of families to make decisions for themselves.” - ALA President Sam Helmick
"Rather than targeting librarians and teachers, Congress should invest in them. The Right to Read Act offers a better path, supporting well-staffed and well-resourced school libraries, strengthening evidence-based literacy instruction, and protecting the dedicated professionals who help young people discover books that open doors and expand horizons. When we trust families, support educators, and protect the freedom to read, our young people thrive.” - ALA President Sam Helmick.

Couldn’t be a better week, since HR 7661 was just introduced. Thank you, @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social for doing your thing! Kudos, advocates!
What event, Martha? Lemme tell my San Francisco peeps.
If this passes, that’s the whole ball game.
Write. Call. Vote. Repeat.
The Authors Guild is proud to join major publishers, authors, students and parents in suing the state of Florida over a bill that restricts books in school libraries.
Thank you, @texasmonthly.bsky.social for writing this great piece about my husband and little old me, a “Nancy Pelosi type,” and “head of the snake.” 🤠

It’s not often that a husband and wife get to go to the polls and each vote for themselves, but that’s what we got to do today! 🗳️🇺🇸🤠

Oooh, what book, Carolyn?! I just started The Unwinding, a great work of non-fiction by @theatlantic.com’s George Packer, and I’m hooked already, too! ❤️📚
“Govt officials now ultimately determine what is on the shelves of public libraries, & therefore our books are on the ballot every time we go vote …
Library patrons will be rewarded with a library that reflects their needs only if their local officials agree with them.”
If you don't know where to send great book-themed V-Day cards, I recommend Tx State Rep Hillary Hickland, who just called anyone upset about books being banned from schools a "groomer" who shouldn't be near kids. Reach out & let her know what you think: hillary.hickland@house.texas.gov
Thank you, @heykellyjensen.bsky.social for this compliment and for sharing this piece with the world.
Went to the grocery store and they were playing The BeeGees’ “Nights on Broadway.”
All I can hear in my head now are replays of The Barry Gibb Talk Show.
