You can count on it! I always look forward to seeing your upcoming anthology calls
You too! Grad school's been a thrash but fortunately the worst is overβback to having more writing and reading time again
ABSOLUTELY coffee. I'm pretty sure I learned how to understand poetry from listening to all of the art student baristas I worked with in college describing coffee haha
Absolutely DELIGHTED by this anthology concept. I'm so so so hyped for this one
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JON REPORTS IT IS βCOLD AS BALLSβ OUTSIDE Bluesky personality also describes weather as βcolder than ballsβ NEW YORK β Jon Bois (@jonbois.bsky.social) released the following statement Saturday afternoon at approximately 1:30 p.m. local time: βItβs cold as balls outside today. Itβs supposed to get even colder, too.β Minutes later, Bois issued a second statement: βItβs colder than balls out there. You really gotta bundle up, because itβs as cold as balls out there.β Media Contact: Jon Bois (operator, @jonbois.bsky.social Bluesky account) ###
For instance, I need a casual and unobtrusive way to convey that the overly academic cadence of this thread is intentionally ironic for the bit. How on earth will anyone possibly know I'm doing a bit if I cannot overexplain myself?!
If only Tumblr had a native footnote function, it would be (on a technical UX level) the perfect social platform.
For the record, the biggest factor in why I so rarely find myself on Bluesky is that every time I post, I remember that I do not have the freedom of the supplementary inside voice afforded by Tumblr tags, and I'm like, well. I could be on Tumblr.
The secondary problem is that I want to buy the games but I am a grad student, so you can imagine the state of my disposable income.
The biggest problem with doing research on TTRPGs is that people are basically just telling me about TTRPGs they love so I leave interviews wanting to play those TTRPGs but I don't have time to play TTRPGs on account of having to do research. about TTRPGs.

I'm sure this will not get me yelled at in for years via a random article on JSTOR by some niche humanities scholar who's been an expert in their field since before the turn of the millennium. Nope, definitely not.
Biggest struggle with doing interdisciplinary research is running into subjects that you have no formal education in but you need to touch on for one reason or another. Like cool, guess I'll go try to do a crash course on historical Ottoman art styles. For this intermedial narrative analysis in D&D.
no sir thatβs not what I said. I didnβt do it because the cat βtoldβ me to. I did it because the cat WANTED me to
Oh man i woke up this morning and the city name and exact time appeared in the lower left with clicky-clack typewriter sounds. Bro i do not have time for this shit

Wanna be her so bad..........
I have never in my life opened a TTRPG rulebook and saw a martial class that I wanted to play for a full campaign, but the #Daggerheart Guardian got me so fast.
For context, I am a WIZARD MAIN.
if there's one thing bitches want it's setting-accurate profanity (it's me, I'm bitches)
reading through Metis Creative's The City of Crescent for a research project I'm working on and its ranking among my 5e supplements skyrocketed immediately upon discovering it takes the time to teach you how to swear in six languages

The Critical Role Foundation fundraiser for LA wildfire recovery www.critrole.com/crflovesla is only $2,633 away from their $375k goal! Make a donation between now and Feb 28th & send me a snapshot here or on tumblr, and I'll make a silly doodle (below prompt was "aeor is for lovers"). #criticalrole
if I'm being honest, I've spent my birthday on sillier writing projects than this
It's my party and I'll... [checks notes] turn in a writing submission at the absolute last minute, I guess
if there's anything Catholicism is good for, it's having really specific contacts to whom to address your grievances
shout-out to my mom for reminding the family group chat that it's Santa Lucia day, la luce tornerΓ , gloria al Padre, amen alleluia, etc etc
you know what, fair, you gotta talk about your interests until you find the people who share them
you either have the best luck imaginable or a secret trick you learned from a forest witch, I'm convinced
If you see people leaving rude comments just blα»ck and move on. Chances are its just a bα»t or someone with too much free time and you honestly have better things to do like eating a big bowl of soup.
they're right there! let me at 'em!
trying to finish a draft of a research paper on TTRPGs while half of my timeline is at PAX U feels like being an indoor cat staring wistfully at birds outside the window
