My photo shows a view looking straight down an ancient street in Pompeii. The road is made of large, unevenly-shaped, rounded gray stone blocks. Running lengthwise through the stones are two shallow grooves—parallel tracks worn into the stone by the passage of wagon wheels centuries ago. On both sides of the street are pedestrian pavements, raised about a step higher than the road. Beyond the pavements are the remains of buildings with thick walls made of rough stone and reddish bricks. The roofs and upper floors are gone. The street stretches straight into the distance, narrowing with perspective. A few small human figures and trees in the distance, emphasize how long the road is. Above the street, the blue sky is streaked with thin, wispy clouds. At the far end of the street, rising behind the ruins, there’s a glimpse of the dark, lower slope of Mount Vesuvius, the volcano whose eruption buried Pompeii in AD 79.

Wheel ruts worn into the roads of ancient Pompeii made by the passage of wagons and carts some 2,000+ years ago.

A reminder to modern visitors of ancient traffic which flowed through busy Pompeian streets.

FINALLY finished spinning this fiber (60% merino, 40% silk), which took me nearly 2 years of inconsistent work. It's almost 1000 yards of single spun lace weight, but I might consider making it a double ply someday. I love love love this color!

An intricate octopus cut from a single piece of paper

Japanese artist Masayo Fukuda hand-cut this life-sized octopus from one sheet of paper. Known as Kirie in Japanese (translated as “cut picture”), the art form involves cutting intricate forms from a single sheet of white paper and then contrasting it against a black background to reveal the design.

Museum photo of a one-piece exercise suit in very dark green (or maybe grey). It has a cinched in waist with a thick (three to four inches) waist-band. The trousers go to mid-calf, where they are gathered and tied, and they are extremely roomy - lots of pleats, and the material expands out gently from the hips. The top is loose-fitting and resembles an old-fashioned sailor uniform. Full length, open cuff sleeves; a slightly deep V-cut neckline (to the upper sternum); broad, flat collar; and a knotted, chunky tie that hangs to the waist-band.

Timeline cleanse. This gym suit is gorgeous - looks comfy and roomy enough for yoga, gymnastics, kicking people in the face, etc. But super stylish too - the cinched in waist and tie are lovely.

'Rose Hill garden' - I was in the mood to embroider another geometric garden and went with summer roses for this one. Colourful and bright! A flat lay arrangement of my hand knit socks on a wooden table. The socks are dark brown with purple and green accents, and thistle flower motifs. Around them are knitting needles, the remaining balls of yarn, the knit swatch, and two purple hyacinth flowers. (They were the closest thing to a purple thistle I could find at this time of year) Yarn used: PIP Naturals and Colorwork by Baa Ram Ewe.

Last month I did my first test knit, The Cluaran Sock pattern by Grey Owl Knits. They fit really nicely and I think this is my new favorite heel type. 🧶🧦💜🌿

at last, we have invented retrophenology from the classic Discworld text Don’t Invent Retrophenology

Timely, I finished this game yesterday and loved it! Especially the time loop everything’s-the-same-except-you-know-more-now mechanic and the dreamlike quality of floating around in space… until you die of asphyxiation 😅

I just finished this game (still doing Echoes of the Eye but have seen the ending already) and I highly recommend it! I love the time loop mechanic, anyone know if there are other games like this?
