I'm sure every solo game dev or small team has had this exact thought! Creating animations and staging a full 3D world takes a massive toll on your energy. Switching to a 2.5D Side-scrolling setup (3D scenes but 2D movement or locked camera) just saves an unbelievable amount of work.
If we switch to a 2.5D Side-scrolling view, it would actually save us a ton of work!

Testing out Dynamic Camera and Root Motion for the rolling animation today! π₯ If a target is detected, the camera zooms out for a wider angle. No enemies in sight? It gradually returns to the default view.

First attempt at IK in Godot! It works... barely. I can aim up and down now, but the movement feels a bit stiff and not smooth at all. I'll definitely need to revisit both the code and animations later. Still a long way to go to make it feel right!
