I suspect a key here is being specific about 'fun'? A lot of the things other people really like about furcons bore me, so I'm cobbling together my own experience out of the pieces, and trying to be pretty sensitive to which parts are alive for me.

This is my impression also in markets that have a high price to rent ratio like Seattle. The main thing buying gets is stability and ability to do modifications (which can often be so expensive they're also not worthwhile).

I started by cooking breakfasts for a big group, until I was comfortable making three simple dishes at once, then when Thanksgiving rolled around have it a try.
Use a spreadsheet to track your time plan, for prep and for the ovens / burners, and give yourself space to breathe and take breaks!

One suggestion is roughly what the wedding cost, divided by the number of attendees. (I think this makes less sense if it's a destination wedding; it makes more sense when the parents are paying for it, and so the community is meditating a transfer from the parents to the couple.)
I switched off Death Defiance recently to use Strength because I noticed "wait I am good at this now"
I think part of it is figuring out the boons that work best for each weapon and having the rerolls to make them happen, and part of it is figuring out the moves enough that I can avoid damage
