Soft sediment deformation at the base of an arkosic turbidite where it settled onto goopy maroon mud. Fingers for scale.
Spent most of the day doing field work with my independent research student. We visited a neat outcrop of sedimentary rock between Catoctin Formation lava flows. The ~4m strat column here grades from mud at the bottom through arkosic turbidites and into a conglomerate full of rounded pebbles. ⚒️

For context: he works remotely in advertising. His work day is like three hours long. And he is not ambitious which is fine. His career is set and great. But I AM!!! So during the semester I am pretty busy.
