Yes is try to keep them closer to their TNG roots rather then the more personalised force in VOY.
The Romulans pull back and the Borg stop coming. Why? Did they not want to go the distance? Did they assimilate everything they saw worth assimilating and thus stop caring? Was the retreat a waste?
They do elect their senators but the franchise is restricted to property holders: who gets to vote is one of the major societal fault lines.

Honestly I think I downplay the feudalism compared to many beta canon depictions. Aristocratic oligarchic republic is how I imagine them.

The official end date at 2415, I will be dragging out the STO storyline abit (the events in game happen way too fast). So a mix of PIC and STO with inspiration from some of the old beta canon novels.
There will be interest, though mainly from private operators as neither the free state, Sela’s government and the early fourth republic can police the area. Unsanctioned outposts and mining operations, pirates and smugglers, it’s very much the Wild West ca 2410.
