π¨ This week, we participated in negotiations at the 58th UN Human Rights Council on the Draft Resolution on Human Rights Defenders & New Technologies, pushing for stronger recognition of migrant rights defenders, who face surveillance, hacking, threats & doxxing across Europe.
Whilst recognised as a likely under-estimate of the true picture, the UN/IOM Missing Migrants Project recorded 82 deaths in the English Channel last year - 14 of whom were children.
This is more than triple the deaths in 2023 and is a direct result of the lack of safe and regular migration routes.
