60-day IL is open soon, right? Wouldn't be surprised if they wait so they can 60-day someone just before they announce it.

Its the penalty kill. His stats are top 10 at 5 on 5 and on the power play (the fact our goalie has to play phenomenal on our own power play is an embarrassment itself). The penalty kill is the only area where his stats are bad. Some of that is on him, but he's nowhere near the biggest issue.

With yesterday's game xGA on the powerplay is now 3.83, second place is still the Canadiens. Jeremy Swayman himself has allowed 3 goals on the powerplay, but he's expected to have allowed 3.71. It's probably not the worst powerplay in the league (good on you calgary and st louis) but it is awful.

I'm not blaming Swayman btw, at 5 on 5 his stats are excellent. His stats on the powerplay going into tonight were excellent, now it's likely average to above average. The penalty kill is the area where his stats plummet. He's not been perfect, but he's nowhere near the biggest issue with the team.

So going into tonight, the Boston Bruins powerplay had an xGA of 3. Second worst was Montreal at 1.99. This was before tonight's game against Columbus where we got two shorthanded scored on us.

so uh, i feel a little stupid, i wrote this before realizing Peeke was back, Peeke obviously in for Mitchell, obviously. I'd probably just let Oesterle be the 7th D since I'd rather let Mitchell get time in the AHL and see if he is anything.
