The cuts are across the board: Cancer down 24%, Alzheimer down 45%, Obesity down 29%, Child by 21%.

Transgender was down by 84% but represents only a small number of grants.

Led by graduate student Melanie Leguizamon; financial vulnerability in older age is associated with cognitive reappraisal. This suggests emotional regulation interventions may reduce financial exploitation vulnerability in older age.

It was a privilege to present some of our work aimed at understanding financial decision making and fraud in older age to the National Elder Fraud Coordination Center. The NEFCC might be one of the most hopeful weapons against the growing epidemic of financial fraud of older adults that I’ve seen!

(1) NIH is extending #ESI and #K99/R00 eligibility to accommodate researchers whose eligibility would have ended during the previous shutdown. Take a look at NOT-OD-26-020. If your ESI status would have ended in 2025, you get an automatic extension through 2026/03/31.
