Today's #diecast is the '63 Studebaker Avanti. I want customize it as Professor Utonium's car.
At last weekend's meet, I found this Hot Wheels version. But it's too shiny and pretty to mess up with a custom. Luckily, I found this Johnny Lightning version at the same table.
Those gaps are pretty minimal for moving parts, nice casting. Love those wheels, too. I don't think I've ever seen these on the pegs by me.

Two Spinners under white and purple lights. Might strip and repaint, but will use a spray paint to do it, I think. The front wheels need to be removed, as they should be rotated as the Spinners are in flight mode. Might replace them with a bit that looks like jet exhausts.
Rachel's Spinner and Deckard's Ground Car, both need to be stripped as the thick paint covers a lot of details. Also, there's that weird "Blade Runner" logo plastered on them, 80s, amirite? Again, I feel like these need a spray paint treatment and not my rough handpainted look.

Today's #diecast features a set got at the meet. It's the #BladeRunner (1982) set from ERTL. It consists of two Spinners, police and Deckard. As well, as Deckard's ground car and Rachel's Spinner. The movie vehicles were designed by #SydMead and I've included his Sentinel limo in the pics
Replacement teams have been designated for the next #Gaslands Death Race Demo. Teams will have one month to outfit and prepare their vehicles. As long as sponsors are willing to send contestants, there will be a full complement of racers to select for the demo.
These were the giveaway cars that were given away. Eight were to players, two were given to kids passing by and stopped to listen to my spiel. And the last one given to a kid who already had one and asked for another.

Ran two, TWO, session today. One was with a bunch of new kids and a fellow collector. The other tube was the save the same family from last month.
Great fun was had. And we're going to plan a game night for us grown-ups.

All two dozen of the giveaway prize cars are done and ready for the #Gaslands Death Race Demo at tomorrow's diecast meet. I hope to play more than one game, but honestly, it's fun just being there and chatting with folks about Gaslands and about #diecast collecting.
The teams who enter the #Gaslands demo on behalf of the Miyazaki group do so as a matter of honor. These drivers have transgressed against their house, failed their duty or incurred an immense debt. They must regain their honor by winning or else go out in a glorious end.
This took a lot longer than I expected but I think it got the groove of it for the next and last car
One last team to finish before the #Gaslands demo. A pair of Honda Civics for Miyazaki. Matte varnish has been applied and dried. Then paint it manga style. Majorette has a Japan series that I can use as reference.
Unlike most other sponsors, the Order of the Inferno does not hold opens for competitors. Rather, each driver sent to the #Gaslands Death Race Demo is a devout acolyte selected by the Elders. They are given the task of winning over audiences and spreading the good word like flames to tinder.
It's a burlap mat that I had to iron it a bit when first received. The creases were much more pronounced. It works well enough now, the creases don't really get in the way, since they flatten when a car is placed. I got the mat to keep cars in place, as Mr cars are free rolling for the most part.

Basecoats and builds are done on the group for Order of the Inferno. I plan on doing flames with the same the purple and gray color scheme of my UniMOGs. But, honestly, I am having second thoughts. I don't know that I've got the freehand skills necessary. I tried an outline and it looks bad.

Today's #diecast #DeskCar is the Hot Wheels '57 Jeep FC (2024 HW Hot Trucks). After multiple tries at making an Unimog Tryout Team, I gave up. I don't have Unimogs that fit the car and buggy build. So, I decided to use utility trucks intead.
