This seems to be a self-soothing pattern with our various institutions: media, politicians, etc. We’re always APPROACHING a crisis or IN DANGER OF some horrific thing but we miraculously never get there, despite exactly nothing being done to help.

Eg “Gaza is ON THE BRINK OF starvation,” forever.

We’ll never escape the problem of the foundational rot in imperial thinking while so many are trying so hard to ignore it

It’s grounding (and also devastating) to remember that for many peoples the world over, we are already very much in the “post-apocalyptic” space and it’s my privileged position and perspective that made this precipice feel as it does.

…and that I wasn’t running on all cylinders before, ergo I won’t suddenly have a lot more energy/capacity and it is reasonable to feel rather awful when the experience smacks of bailing out a sinking boat with a thimble.

What I haven’t figured out is how to exist under these escalating conditions outside a miserable loop of being ineffectively incandescent with emotion or else collapsed with overwhelm.

I know the only thing is “start where you are, use what you have, do what you can”
