I love the LL Bean canvas tote bags. They are pricy for a grocery bag but they last forever, lots of options, and are what we grab for first on most trips

The global oil market is integrated. Changes to supply or demand in one place cause price effects that ripple around the 🌎.

But did you know this is true for non-branded bulk food products like grains & vegetable oils?

Below are export prices of maize (corn) from the US, the EU, & the Black Sea.

An old friend who had been a student took me when I first arrived on campus, bc for some it’s kind of a thing, but the food was meh and I never went back. Plus, the whole cult issue

They seemed to have a deal to sell on campus that was not open to other food trucks, for eg, and the food honestly was not great. Not sure how the stuck around this long

Researchers in the US might be having feelings about writing grants atm-I know I am!

We still need to write them. In this Evolution Exchange, I again chat with Sam Scheiner, who summarizes how to write a competitive proposal.

His advice is gold, and helpful regardless of funder. Pls RT!

They just don’t get it - they’re trying to replace the part of our job we like the *most*.

If they could make an AI tool to vibe-complete travel, reimbursement, and annual reporting paperwork they would make a fucking FORTUNE

β€œAt NSF, the net reduction of 205 STEM Ph.D.s between 1 January and 30 November constituted 40% of its total pre-Trump Ph.D. workforce of 517, by far the largest percentage at any agency. STEM Ph.D.s also make up a larger percentage of the total workforce at NSF than at any other agency…”.

The National Science Foundation sign on our Eisenhower Av building is now gone.

The NSF mural in the foyer is removed and torn off in sheets.

We were supposed to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the agency in May 2025. That never happened.
