I got mine today!
Really enjoying the training session this afternoon. So many considerations for supporting refugee students in school - many I hadn't even thought of! Thank you
βA national reading culture cannot be rebuilt without accessible public libraries, well-supported teachers and investment in the people whose work brings books to life for children.β
Amen to this.
Have an amazing time!
Looks like a fabulous initiative - it remains to be seen what the impact will be on children, schools, families and libraries but I'm hopeful!
A really interesting read! Thank you @teresacremin.bsky.social
@kashleyenglish.bsky.social is doing some great research on the use of magazines in classrooms. It is important that when we capture data on 'reading' we make it clear to participants (especially children) that we mean all types of reading materials. This includes comics as well as on screen texts

You are in Hull! A wonderful place. Enjoy.
The cover of The First Year by Matt Goodfellow and illustrated by Joe Todd Stanton. It shows four 11-year-old schoolchildren at a desk looking out of a window across a playground at the cityscape behind them.
If you liked The Final Year you will love this. Twice the size, twice the feels, all the beauty. I cried at least three times. An antidote to toxic masculinity and a must read for young boys.
I enjoyed this book too - a lovely gentle read that reminds us of the power of nature and friendship. A great summer read.
