Like many in our city, the Blade has struggled in Helene's ongoing aftermath. We're a local journalism co-op of working class trans people. It has not been an easy year.

While you weren't looking, *seventeen* House Democrats just voted to strip basic rights from trans members of the military and helped the GOP pass their far-right version of the NDAA, similar to what we reported on.

This is the most Dems voting for anti-trans legislation in Congress this year.

McBride's far from alone in this quisling bullshit (Natalie Wynn made her career off it), but as the one trans elected official at the federal level she's a sterling example...

Plenty of them have had to engage with activities, like sex work or the black market, that shock good gentry.

So, the McBrides of the world are desperate to assure the (cis) elites that they're not like the rest of us. They're the "good ones" who'd be just like them if not for that pesky transness.

Worth highlighting part of that execrable Sarah McBride interview that hasn't gotten as much attention, where she mournfully says that if she wasn't trans her life would've been so much easier.

A friend of mine tried to get a passport for their daughter who is trans. They live in California. Thankfully the name was correct, but it listed her as male and came with this document.
